So, here's one plausible scenario of the future. Right now the federal debt is over $40 trillion, and 126% of GDP. After the flattening of the second Obama turn (and ignoring the COVID spike and retreat) we're still consistently growing. Servicing the debt is now over $1 trillion a year. /1

Reminder: we haven't solved the alignment problem for humans. If you couldn't put an arbitrary human in charge of "thing you're asking the AI to do", you can't put AI in charge of it either. If it has human oversight when other humans do it, it will still need oversight when an AI does it.

There’s a piano on the second floor that has a sign that says “please play me” (essentially) and yesterday I saw two people in elf cosplay, a woman with a flute and a man at the piano, and they were doing some kind of soundtracky atonal piece; I wish I could’ve hung around. It was awesome.

My very favorite thing to do at Blizzcon is hang out at the food trucks. It’s quiet enough you can eavesdrop, and you realize a lot about Blizzard fans. Because being here - paying for a ticket and coming to Anaheim - these aren’t casual players. But they’re all different.
