#TIL that the mod of both /r/eastside and /r/BellevueWA will ban you for, e.g. posting about local ICE activity (b/c "national politics", "violating community rules") but will leave your post up if it is full of racism and fascist boot-licking.
Screenshot of a Reddit comment thread from the subreddit r/BellevueWA showing several comments, with higher-level replies indicated as deleted and removed by moderators.

The top visible post by user Typical-Picture8961 reads: "sadly voting blue has consequences".

Below a removed comment, user Beerchovies writes: "Actions have consequences. Should've self-deported."

Replying under another removed comment, user Beerchovies writes: "I'm from the tribe that Oregon trailed their way out here. You must like us if you followed us out here. Welcome".

Further down, under a third removed comment, user Medical_Wood writes: "Funny how you far-left terrorists are genuinely too stupid to understand the difference between immigrants and settlers. This country was endless wilderness when my ancestors came here and built it. Are you fine with someone moving into a house your grandpa built just because he wasn't the original land owner?"

A plane photo bombed me but I got this photo of Andromeda (and its little siblings) from the park near my house last night.
A deep-space long-exposure photograph featuring the Andromeda Galaxy (M31) stretching diagonally across a dense, dark night sky filled with countless stars. The galaxy exhibits a bright, glowing core and soft, faint dust lanes extending outward. smaller, fuzzy companion galaxirs (M32 and M110) appear nearby. Three parallel, thin yellow light trails from an airplane cross diagonally through the lower half of the view.

This ✨handy✨ pocket is ONLY for literature. You can put Tolstoy in here, but Dan Brown has to go under the seat.
A close-up, angled shot shows the back of a white plastic airplane seat. A small upper pocket contains a "SAFETY INFORMATION CARD" for a "737 MAX" aircraft and a promotional brochure for "ATMOS REWARDS" mentioning a "65,000 BONUS."
Two small sticker labels are visible on the left side:
The top one reads: "Handy pocket for literature only"
The bottom one reads: "Stow device holder during taxi, takeoff, and landing"
The top of a gray leather headrest is visible on the left, and a white plastic latch for a tray table is positioned on the right. A blue banner on the literature encourages passengers to visit "ALASKAWIFI.COM."

Video game cover art for Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. The title is stylized in large, glowing, dark-teal letters at the top. Below the title, the subtitle "Sanity's Requiem" appears in a smaller, lighter font. The background depicts a dark, misty, outdoor scene with large, ancient-looking standing stones (menhirs) silhouetted against a bright, pale-blue mystical light emanating from the center distance. A dark, spherical object floats above the light. The bottom right includes the ESRB rating of M (Mature) and the Nintendo GameCube logo.

This kind of shit is not only factually wrong, but incredibly counterproductive.
Social media conversation thread. Kevin asks if the other party has considered the perspective of a small-time landlord who must compete with amenity-rich buildings, suggesting YIMBYs support reducing regulations to fix the broken housing market. Climate and Transit replies, "That's where we're different! Because landlords of all sizes are scum sucking leeches. True dregs of society who take away from the working class." Kurt Dresner interjects, asking Climate and Transit to moderate their take before he unfollows. Climate and Transit responds to Kurt, "You sound like a medieval peasant defending their lord." Kurt replies, "Cool, thanks." Climate and Transit then posts a final comment directed at Kurt: "Rentcuck RAISE THIS GUYS RENT MORE!"

This is from page 64 of _Transit: The Story of Public Transportation in the Puget Sound Region_ by Jim Kershner, et al.
A photograph of a book cover titled "TRANSIT: The Story of Public Transportation in the Puget Sound Region" by Jim Kershner and the Staff of HistoryLink.
The cover is split into two main sections:
Top Half: A black-and-white historical photograph of several men in early 20th-century clothing sitting inside what appears to be an old streetcar or train.
Bottom Half: A color modern photograph of a transit station, showing a large escalator leading up, flanked on both sides by modern Sound Transit Link light rail trains stopped at the platform. A sign above the escalator reads: "EXIT/Montlake Blvd NE / UW & Husky Stadium". Several people are visible on the platform and using the escalator.
The title "TRANSIT" is in large, bold, yellow letters across the middle. Below the title, there is a library barcode sticker in the top-left corner, and a white sticker on the bottom left corner with the word "KIRK" (indicating the Kirkland collection). A hand is visible holding the bottom of the book.

The worst part is that most of the damage done to our cities was after we already understood this.
As traffic grew worse, people in Seattle began to grapple with the implications of the auto explosion. On December 23, 1953, the Seattle Times ran an editorial, quoting a Chicago Tribune piece about traffic congestion. "The problem exists because, among many other reasons, the ordinary automobile is a most inefficient vehicle for transporting large numbers of people in a limited area. The automobile wastes power and more particularly, it wastes space.

Behind the mug are two large, stainless steel beverage dispensers (likely BUNN brand), and a yellow sign on the dispenser on the right reads, "WAR ON CARS".

A wide, panoramic street-level view of the [REDACTED] in [REDACTED]. The massive Brutalist concrete structure dominates the frame, featuring rows of repeating, organically shaped, flared concrete arches that support the upper parking decks.

The ground floor of the garage, shielded by the arches, contains various storefronts, including one for a business named "Pitbull Tattoo & Body Piercing," with dark glass windows. A few cars, including a dark SUV and a white crossover, are parked along the curb on the street in the foreground. The street, which features a crosswalk on the right, extends into the distance. A tall, modern building is visible on the far left of the background.

Don't you mean "avoid latin-based *words* if at all possible"?
The image displays a diagram illustrating the etymological origin of the word "vocabulary".

The diagram shows:

The Latin root vocabulum (meaning "a word" or "name").

This term developed into Medieval Latin vocabularius (meaning "a vocabulary, list of words").

Also from vocabulum, the word passed into English as vocable.

Both the Medieval Latin vocabularius and the English vocable led to the modern English word vocabulary around the mid 16th century.

Below the diagram, there is a textual explanation that confirms this, stating that "vocabulary" is from the mid 16th century (when it denoted a list of words with definitions or translations) and is derived from Medieval Latin vocabularius, which in turn comes from the Latin vocabulum (with a cross-reference to the word vocable).

Bonus shot for those who clicked into the replies. At least there is ground-level retail?
A panoramic photo shows the base of a massive concrete parking garage. The garage has multiple levels and is supported by a series of large, rounded columns, creating an open-air corridor beneath it. The street itself has a crosswalk and continues to the right, where a building and more trees can be seen. The sky is clear and blue.

Also, you completely lost me at "As a society, we are pretty good at transferring money to the poor" which suggests that you, also, don't have a very good grasp of reality.
The graph "Distribution of Family Wealth, 2022" shows that wealth in the U.S. is not distributed evenly.

The x-axis represents the percentage of families, from the poorest on the left (0th percentile) to the wealthiest on the right (100th percentile). The y-axis shows the amount of wealth in dollars.

The curve is relatively flat for most of the population, showing that the bottom 50% of families have very little wealth. The curve starts to rise significantly around the 90th percentile, and by the 99th percentile, it shoots up dramatically.

This indicates that the wealthiest 1% of families hold a massive amount of wealth, while the majority of families have far less.

When are we going to start taking unicycles seriously as transportation instead of dismissing them as recreation?!
A photo shows two weathered signs bolted to a metal surface, likely a ferry or a similar transportation vessel.
The top sign, which is newer and cleaner, has a black border and black text on a white background. It reads:

The bottom sign is older, stained, and has black text on a yellow background. It reads:
