Yeah. Being on 3 editorial boards is a way for me to commit. I also never have refused an R&R review. That's about the worst review thing you can do after somebody worked hard to satisfy your reviews and then introduce a wild card reviewer.

I think 5-7 sounds about right. I have used the department chair card during extra busy times but it’s almost always after I just finished a review or just agreed to one. I also am submitting less these days. I always felt I should review a couple for every paper I had submitted.

We are being told it's appealing to folks who want to finish faster, but it also could put pressure on people that only have enough time for 3 credits per 15 weeks. At UTEP, we offered 7 week courses for masters program but Ed.D. were always full 15 weeks. I haven't seen any actual evidence.
