We were at Pandafest KC this afternoon and while it was unseasonably hot for October, the street food was good (not pictured: grilled whole squid!), and I found this cute pair of origami crane earrings!

A closeup selfie of a woman who, while she doesn’t look the way she wants, has developed the grace to accept that how she actually looks is pretty good, and honestly is worthy of love and acceptance regardless of how she looks, zoomed in on an earring in the form of an origami crane. There’s another earring like it in the other ear, but she couldn’t get them both in frame while zoomed in, so you’ll just need to take her word for it.

Take those off the table, and what’s left for pain management? Everything else I can think of is prescription-only. Or is that ultimately the problem? OTC availability leads to overuse, which what leads to the side effects? But we can still say that about most OTC medications, right? 2/2

Okay, but at what dose and timespan? Everything has side effects, just like everything has a lethal dose. Paracetamol can lead to liver failure, ibuprofen and naproxen can lead to kidney failure, aspirin interferes with platelet action. 1/

Pen and watercolor

Cowboys again. This time one of our boys has lost his boots. Standing in a field of long grass the cowboy points towards the ground and shouts back to his colleague, “Lil bone people got muh boots.” This makes no sense to the other cowboy who sits atop his horse away from the action. He responds, “Lil wut?” Sure enough in the foreground we see a squad of little bone people scampering through the grass with the stolen cowboy boots. They’re thrilled. How the bone people got the boots off the cowboy is unclear.

Artist’s note: I tend to draw drawings from the same perspective (straight on) most of the time. This idea came about when I was goofin around trying to draw a character from a lower angle. I like that the story unfolds with the foreground, mid-ground, and background all working together. There’s a draft of this one included in the Spooky Pants book. Coming out next week!
