If you can write CSS, you can write GSS { ● } I've been dreaming of this for years: a language to build 3D scenes like you write CSS. Selectors, cascade, :hover, keyframes… compiled to one GPU shader. Meet GSS: GPU Style Sheets. gss-lang.dev #shader #glsl #gss

earth on the horizon, taken during apollo 8
Apollo 8 view of Earth rising above the Moon’s gray, cratered horizon. Earth appears small and blue-white near the upper right, while a dark, out-of-focus section of the spacecraft window and interior framing fills the lower foreground against the blackness of space.

Econ 101
Person one: Taught my kids how socialism works. Let them trick or treat while I stayed home. Then took all their candy. Socialism 101.

Person two : The socialism part is where the community came together and fed your kids for free. The capitalism part is where you made them do all the work and stole from them.

i love the restored apollo images
View from inside an Apollo spacecraft looking through a dark window toward a tiny crescent Earth in the distance. Parts of the spacecraft interior and window frame are visible around the small illuminated planet.A thin crescent Earth hangs above the rugged lunar horizon against the blackness of space. The Moon’s cratered surface stretches across the bottom of the image.A distant, partially illuminated Earth floating alone in deep black space. Swirling white clouds and blue-gray oceans are visible on the lit side.Close-up of a circular Apollo spacecraft window surrounded by metal hardware, markings, bolts, and controls. The window is scratched and speckled, with faint reflections and a dim view of space beyond.

I've heard people make claims that AI would lead to a new Renaissance, but I didn't imagine it'd happen like this:
Screenshot of a Tweet from Pope Leo XIV. It reads:

"In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgen to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity."

Happy Fossil Friday from the Museum’s Hall of Ornithischian Dinosaurs! Behold Styracosaurus. A relative of the famous horned dinosaur Triceratops, Styracosaurus had huge spikes sticking out from its frill, the bony collar that projects rearward from the skull, and a singular nasal horn.
A photo of the fossilized remains of styracosaurus. The animal has a beak, a long hooked nasal horn, and a spiky frill. Its remains are brownish in color.
