I’m big on civic dissent in all platforms because it’s a fundamental part of who we are as a nation. And those bands reveled in it. And I speak to it as often as I can. But I felt…uncomfortably epiphanic in that moment. Like I was the only one wearing Roddy Piper’s glasses from THEY LIVE.

And I had a pretty visceral reaction to that. I kinda looked around and realized who I was surrounded by. I’ve seen these actual bands in the 90s and 2000s when chunks of them were still touring. 80s metal has always been beautifully, proudly anti-establishment and was LOUD about it.

Today, I got a NAS set up for my family to look at old photos and videos from our phones. The coolest thing I found pre-kids were these pictures of the Lego city my brother and I built in our teens. We wanted to recreate the futuristic New York City in “the 5th Element” as much as we could.
