First Nations children are still waiting for safe schools, clean water, adequate housing and equitable services. Meanwhile, Canada somehow finds urgency when the “national interest” is pipelines, mines and major projects. Reconciliation has to mean more than wearing orange once a year. 🧡

I expect this sort of thing (I have lived here for half a decade), but I think Rosie’s feelings got hurt. She was thoroughly worked up and frustrated by the end of our walk, because most people we encountered reflexively jerked their dogs away from us.

Took Rosie for a walk at Assiniboine Park today. We do this fairly often, and she always enjoys saying hello to other dogs. I feel like I owe her apologies today, because I wore my braids, earrings, and orange. This led people to make stereotypical assumptions about what kind of dog she is.
