In this context, I was dismayed (but not shocked) to learn that a NOFO is apparently under development targeted toward metal toxicity, perhaps in the context of mercury in vaccines, lithium in psychiatric meds and the environment, and so on. DDER Lorsch is apparently pushing this through. 3/6

Abolishing the NIH has always been this admin’s plan. They told us in Project 2025. They’ve SHOWN us with their actions over the past 18 months. This is why a heads down approach will not work. The scientific community has 2 options: oppose this with all we’ve got, or let them carry out their plan.

Just spoke to The Hill about how the dismantling of the NIH is impacting science in America. We still face a cliff of unfathomable heights, w easily 1000+ labs poised to close in the next year due to funding ending. A generation of young scientists lost because there is nowhere for them to train.
