We need more LGBTQ movies that aren't just "oh my, you're LGBTQ, how do you deal with that?" but are really Action/Sci-fi/Vampire/Romance etc movies that have strong LGBTQ characters as leads.

If "deep state" is the nonpartisan government workers who formed the foundation of the US Government, what do we call the extreme partisans who this Administration has been replacing them with, and we will need to purge next Administration?

When I heard they were continuing Stargate with a new series I broke out my DVDs to refresh my memory and get ready for new episodes. I now have two episodes of SGU left and there's no longer a continuation planned, but I am more certain that I couldn't watch a reboot.

Trump claiming the US is the world’s sole superpower rings hollow when MAGA America First isolationism actively undermines the global alliance network and forward logistics that built that status in the first place.

A recent survey found that 92% of U.S. adults have delayed or avoided medical care due to high costs. Meanwhile, a new study from Yale estimates that Medicare for All would save over 114,000 lives and $1 trillion a year. If this country was truly “pro-life,” we would have universal healthcare.

No Framer of the Bill of Rights or Supreme Court Justice ever explained that the Second Amendment is about gun regulations outside the scope of the organized militia before 2008. The idea that the 2A prevents common-sense gun laws is bogus.

I just started watching the latest season of Strange New Worlds and I got excited with the early Doctor Who reference, it's fun to think the two shows exist in the same universe, then they introduce a race of people firmly established in Doctor Who lore...

Flatter Trump, hire his lawyer, offer $10 billion: that's the formula former DOJ attorney Liz Oyer says got Gautam Adani's bribery case dropped, and it already worked for a crypto scammer too. Next time someone claims the system is fair show them this receipt. #StopTrumpCorruption

The Story of the Second Amendment, a thread. First... The US Constitution was written (well it was version 2, but you know what I mean) and in it were two militia clauses as a part of Article 1 Section 8:
Article 1 Section 8: Powers of Congress

To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;

To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;

Vote for Republicans, and we'll give you a check for $5,000, then increase your taxes by much more than that every year! We'll also increase the cost of groceries and oil, and end programs that give money back to the people! So don't worry about how we can afford it; just know we'll get it back!

“Evil, I think, is the absence of empathy.” These words weren't spoken by a modern activist. They were written by Gustave Gilbert, the American military psychologist who spent months interviewing Nazi war criminals during the Nuremberg Trials. Let’s look at a dangerous pattern.

While I think saying "he is not President" is going too far, he certainly should NOT be President for this exact Constitutional reason. We know for a FACT he was involved in insurrectionist activities. Multiple times and activities.

Supporting the original intent of the Second Amendment, that it's about ensuring we have a division of military power in the US rather than being about abolishing common sense gun laws, does not mean you want to take away everyone's guns. People in the US owned guns before 2008.

Here's a good way to lower healthcare costs: Replace private health insurance with a uniform, non-profit national system. By cutting administrative waste and leveraging single-payer price controls, we can slash overall healthcare costs while guaranteeing coverage for everyone.

Socialism is what they called public power. Socialism is what they called social security. Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations. Socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people. —Harry Truman, 1952

People in the US didn't suddenly gain access to owning firearms when the Supreme Court rewrote the Second Amendment in 2008, so it doesn't make sense that the Framers connected the two things.

Democrats and non-MAGA Republicans to start moving away from "everyone in the other party is bad" to focusing on why MAGA's authoritarianism is bad. We need more independents in politics, and to do away with closed primaries and move towards ranked choice voting.

In Heller, Justice Scalia wanted you to forget or misunderstand the past because he knew his novel interpretation of the 2A couldn't stand up to historical scrutiny. In Bruen, Justice Thomas does the opposite, because he doesn't know US Legal History.

In the context of the Second Amendment, "bear arms" wasn't a description of carrying a weapon to the grocery store. During the founding era, it was a military idiom meaning soldiering, active service, or engaging in combat—not generic personal gun ownership.

Photo of a museum display panel with white text on a red background. The text reads:

The Congress shall have Power to...provide for the common defense and general Welfare of the United States...[including the power]....

To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress insurrections and repel Invasions;

To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress.

The Bill of Rights: Amendment II: (ratified December 15, 1791)
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

I am really getting tired of grown babies on Twitter who think that learning about the Second Amendment means everyone is after their gun collections. One guy even dared me to go find some guys with testicles to line up to break into his house to try and obtain his guns that I don't want. So weird..

The Second Amendment doesn't protect private gun ownership. It protects something far more important. Our right to a division in military power. It's to prevent one bad President from using all the armed forces as a tool to support tyranny, the way King George III used the Redcoats.
