🚨UPDATED ALERT (3/24): ICE is now in DMV area airports. Please take additional precautions while traveling domestically, especially if you are high risk. Important travel safety tips for immigrants: www.nilc.org/resources/community-alert-immigration-arrests-at-airports
UPDATED ALERT | March 24, 2026

ICE in airports
Over the weekend Trump announced that ICE will be deploying to airports to “support” TSA, who are currently understaffed due to the DHS budget fight in congress. Yesterday, ICE was reported to be deployed to 14+ airports outside of the DMV area.

However, yesterday there were confirmed sightings of ICE at Washington National Airport (DCA) & Dulles International Airport (IAD), and reports of them at Baltimore/ Washington International Airport (BWI).

If you see ICE at DMV area airports, please call MSMA’s hotline: 202-335-1183Travel safety tips for immigrants
Be ready for extra security
- Including extra screening or questions from TSA, Customs and Border Protection or other immigration law officers

Bring physical copies of important documents, including:
- Proof of lawful status or any pending applications
- Certified copies of criminal court orders, if your case was closed

Secure your devices (phones, laptops, etc.)
- Take steps to make it less likely law enforcement will search your devices
- Swipe for Just Futures Law’s digital security guide

Make a safety plan – just in case.
- Memorize phone numbers for a lawyer and at least one loved one who can be on-call in case you need help
