I just wanted to sketch a portrait of Solas because it has been 3000 years and then it somehow dramatically escalated as it always does when he is involved. No regrets. 🤷‍♀️👌 #DragonAge #Solas

Use reference. I’m serious. I get it that somehow you or someone convinced you that using reference is “cheating.” It’s not. You are just hindering yourself.

I see we’re back to talking about using references to make art again. These are the three main photos I looked at while making this piece. Beyond me that it’s even a discussion when artists have used references forever and even traced projections for accuracy back to the 1400s but here you go.

A couple kissing visible between the spaces in book shelves

A man and woman embracing with their foreheads touching

A woman groping an man while both are fully clothed

ooh, I've never thought of this. I've always just referred to Yvaine & Solas as Solavellan. But maybe Solvaine? Solavellan is just so iconic though. 😋 Ivy Aldwir & Lace: Veilscout? Veilbow? 🤔 Amielle de Riva & Davrin: Davielle? 😂 Or just going with Davrook. 🤷‍♀️

'Fireflies and Nightingales' I've got into #criticalrole Campaign 4 and I just love Occtis Tachonis, played by the one and only @alexanderward.bsky.social. Art of the sweet dead boi was inevitable.

Occtis Tachonis from Critical Role, seen holding/not holding the Stone of Nightsong and surrounded by nightingales (seen as silhouettes of light) and fireflies in the gloomy forest.

I see a lot of posts saying that you need to be creative, you need to draw, defy the odds, yaddayadda. Hey. It's ok to be tired. It's ok to not be able to do much. It's ok to just sit on the couch and stare at the wall. Please drink some water. Take a shower if you can. It's ok.

This scene hurt. The Solas & Mythal story is so deliciously layered, but as a Solavellan who wanted to save him, seeing him crumble was a punch to the heart. (the song "What Could Have Been" is very Solas-appropriate) #Solas #DragonAgeTheVeilguard #DragonAge #virtualphotography #gamephotography

I always encourage people to, when they're making "best of" lists, include animated stuff in them. The point is to put animation right next to live action to normalize it. Equate them and don't section it off into its own separate list. Let them exist right next to each other.

Unfortunately, the game doesn't have a photo mode though. 😭 So it's either fiddling around with the camera to get enough for a not-so-great-quality photo (after getting rid of the UI in editing), or just hitting the screenshot button during cutscenes & hoping for the best (like this photo). 🙃
