This is a ‘good strategy’ in game theory terms if you assume Trump will punish you for not rolling over and showing deference and democrats won’t. Democrats should think about altering those incentives.

Politics is part of the challenge - have you complained to your alderwoman today? ;) - and everything moves slower than you'd like, but I think a lot of the pieces are there. Can definitely send links or walk through them if you want too, I'm sure we'll see you int he next couple weeks :)

It's a bit circuitous - partly geography, partly politics - but the plans are pretty much all there. OLT - Michigan - Jefferson - KKRT over the river and along Water - Bay St Connection (which IIRC gets you to the OLT South) Plus a few other projects planned and often funded connecting to those

Toyota's unease at being associated with the Taliban and Al Qaeda is evident. In its September statement, the company said,
'Toyota does not have a sales or distribution channel in Afghanistan, and we do not export vehicles to that country."
Somewhat less laconic was Wade Hoyt, Toyota's spokesman in New York, who put the best corporate spin on the situation this week.
"It is not our proudest product placement," he said. "But it shows that the Taliban are looking for the same qualities as any truck buyer: durability and reliability."

"no alternatives" is a hell of a thing to say about Chicago, but regardless the main anti-car point in that thread is closer to "use what you want, but pay market price" than "ban all cars"

What does a parking lane have to do with “roads into, through, and from” Chicago? You are definitionally not using that asphalt to get anywhere since there’s a parked car in the way

Why make it northbound? I’m sure you have a reason, but my instinct is that southbound makes more sense, both because that’s the side of the road you’re on and because you’re going to be essentially coupleting it with Columbusfor most of the length

Outside my skills here. 2% or 2 points? (i.e. 10% to 10.2% or 10% to 12%) One seems pretty small and the other seems really large, though I could be way off on the impact either way

I think the 5 team playoff was peak. Winning the division mattered (a lot) but you could get in through a 1 game wildcard if you were close. Kept the divisions important and the fact it was a one game “series” made it easy and exciting to watch

My understanding is that CAFE standards sometimes backfired because the allowances for bigger cars exceeded the actual efficiency loss from getting larger. Would be funny if loosening CAFE + the fuel crisis kicked off a new push to smaller cars

My neighbor told me coyotes keep eating his outdoor cats so I asked how many cats he has and he said he just goes to the shelter and gets a new cat afterwards so I said it sounds like he’s just feeding shelter cats to coyotes and then his daughter started crying.

This is more the roadside chargers. You’d still want to have that at home to charge for daily use since the cost/inconvenience means the fast chargers are unlikely to be worth is no matter how fast they are

Sometimes walking to the corner store is a fun adventure with my daughter, and other times I just need something quick to make dinner. I can't imagine building my life around a 20+ minute trip to a big box store in either case.

We can wish things were different, but that ship has sailed, and is largely our fault. We broke the JPCOA. We attacked them at the behest of Israel. We attacked Venezuela during negotiations. We then attacked Iran in negotiations.

investigating Elon Musk, subpoenaing him, making him testify under oath, and working toward significant prosecutions should be one of the leading Democrat campaign promises right now not just for DOGE, for a decade of self-driving fraud that has killed more than 60 Americans, and many other crimes
