The most strategic fumble I’ve witnessed among dem leaders is letting their cops beat up their constituents. And it’s been going on for years and weakening us all. It leaves people with few options but to lose faith in the entire system. And faith is all you got because there isn’t very much proof

“Vote Blue No Matter Who” is the most pessimistic way to engage in politics. You’re saying “I don’t have values, I have affiliations.” And it’s exactly why our halls of power are filled with Democrats who are spineless compromised cowards.

Any pastors in Milwaukee (or surrounding areas) want to take Sunday 3/29 off preaching and have me talk to your congregation about homelessness? It's Palm Sunday, I know, but I can weave that in. Hit me up! I'm in the area already.

Time for another report on how we’ve been doing! As of today, we’ve spent nearly $18k at local, immigrant-owned businesses & have provided ~2000 meals to people experiencing unhoused homelessness or food insecurity. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated, shared, or lifted up our efforts!

Hey so, this came out today :) It’s about homelessness, the church, and how these things are supposed to go together (and what it looks like when they don’t.) Mostly, it’s about hope. Buy it wherever you buy books. I’ll post some links below. Also, celebrate with me!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

It’s been another busy week dealing with the ICE occupation in Minneapolis, but I wanted to give you a Burrito update! We started this project just over 5 weeks ago, and since then we’ve provided over 1150 meals for people, and spent almost $12k at local, immigrant-owned restaurants!

Hi everyone! We’ve been super busy delivering meals the past two weeks- the extreme cold has made this more necessary than ever. MIWRC has been operating as an emergency warning shelter for most of the month and we’ve been really fortunate to help keep hot meals available there for people in need.

I’m so proud of how my Minneapolis neighbors are showing up, and how those around the country are empowering us with donations, encouragement and prayers. Don’t let up! We will win!

This is one of the stories I've tried to convey for a while now: The Trump administration and its allies have long invoked faith to justify policies, appeal to certain groups, etc. But the president's religious critics have *also* long been numerous, and increasingly loud.

We delivered pizzas to our unhoused neighbors today to get them a hot lunch on such a cold day (0° with -16° windchill at noon). So fresh they steamed up the windows! Huge thanks to Marsu Pizza for making this big order happen & thank you everyone who has donated to keep our food outreach going!

One thing that everyone outside of Minneapolis needs to know is how incredibly useless Mayor Frey and Governor Walz have been in light of what we’re facing, and it’s really frustrating to see how many of yall are falling for their sound-byte “solidarity”.

Hello community! We are asking for more support for this fundraiser. Due to the extreme cold expected to linger in the Twin Cities for the next several days, we are seeing a huge need to help provide hot meals to unhoused people. Please help us continue to support our immigrant businesses!

kevin nye @kevinmnye.bsky.social · 15/01/2026

The reason that Mayor Frey and Governor Walz can’t muster much more than selective outrage is because there’s nothing you can say about ICE that isn’t also true of the Minneapolis Police Department, who both swore allegiance to against pervasive evidence of corruption and rights violations.

Hey all, I have abt 30 families in South Minneapolis who need grocery support. I’m hoping to raise $3000 to do a big Costco run, but I don’t have Venmo & I don’t have the ability to float it on my credit card. You can verify this need w/ @jchavezmpls.bsky.social. If you didn’t cry the first time you heard this chorus, are you even alive?

I broke into a million pieces, and I can't go back
But now I'm seeing all the beauty in the broken glass
The scars are part of me, darkness and harmony
My voice without the lies, this is what it sounds like
Why did I cover up the colors stuck inside my head?
I should've let the jagged edges meet the light instead
Show me what's underneath, I'll find your harmony
The song we couldn't write, this is what it sounds like

When we deny people shelter and basic living, predators will use it as bait. 1 in 5 runaway and homeless youth have experienced trafficking, especially high amongst (but not exclusive to) women. If you care about human and child trafficking, start caring about homelessness.

can't stop thinking about this verse from Canticle of the Turning, which I only just heard for the first time recently.

"From the halls of power to the fortress tower
not a stone will be left on stone
Let the king beware for your justice tears
every tyrant from his throne
The hungry poor shall weep no more
for the food they can never earn
There are tables spread, every mouth be fed
for the world is about to turn."

Dedicating my vocation to ending homelessness is not some form of ascetic martyrdom. I'm not sacrificing. I'm not brave. Unhoused people are awesome, actually. They're wise, funny, spiritual, vulnerable people who make my life better. If they're not in your life, you're missing out.
