I generally like the Conversation. I think it and others like it are an important piece of making scholarship accessible. However, they should not reproduce the same problems that exist in the university more broadly. Universities are already exploitative enough. Pay your people.

One of my colleges now requires a customer service course as part of required training. It's not a business module just assigned as part of the training; it is specifically about improving customer service in higher education. So, we're no longer even trying to pretend we're not businesses anymore
