Just smacked a spider with a paperback copy of Starship Troopers, and truly I could not have picked a better book. I saw it on the shelf; and knew this was its purpose.

There were some folks at my dad’s church who were worried that if they started a food pantry someone would steal stuff. And my dad stood up and said “If you can’t have a food pantry what the fuck is the point of having a church?” Maybe feeding the hungry is more Christlike than letting them starve.

This is a real letter from Melania Trump to Putin and it’s one of the most vapid things I’ve ever read.
Melania Trump
Fixst Lady of the United States of America
August 15, 2025
Dear President Putin,
Every child shares the same quiet dreams in their heart, whether born randomly into a nation's rustic countryside or a magnificent city-center. They dream of love, possibility, and safety from danger.
As parents, it is our duty to nurture the next generation's hope. As leaders, the responsibility to sustain our children extends beyond the comfort of a few.
Undeniably, we must strive to paint a dignity-filled world for all - so that every soul may wake to peace, and so that the future itself is perfectly guarded.
A simple yet profound concept, Mr. Putin, as I am sure you agree, is that each generation's descendants begin their lives with a purity - an innocence which stands above geography, government, and ideology.
Yet in today's world, some children are forced to carry a quiet laughter, untouched by the darkness around them — a silent defiance against the forces that can potentially claim their future. Mr. Putin, you can singlehandedly restore their melodic laughter.
In protecting the innocence of these children, you will do more than serve Russia alone — you serve humanity itself. Such a bold idea transcends all human division, and you, Mr. Putin, are fit to implement this vision with a stroke of the pen today.
It is time.
Sincerely,
Melania Trump
The White House

Shopping for EVs in the US is infuriating. It’s a process of finding a super cool option that’s not huge and is significantly cheaper than other options and then finding out they don’t sell it here.

Tradition states that last night Jesus emptied out all the jails. Spent Saturday night telling people “I don’t care what you did, people weren’t made for prisons.” The next day to prove His point He broke out of solitary. It is finished. Easter is incompatible with the carceral state. Happy Easter.

Think about what passing a slush fund CR will mean: what happens when Trump cuts staffing at national parks in your backyard because your Governor won’t deny climate change? Or you can’t get a bridge replaced because the political appointees at DOT don’t like a particular mayor?

We have already seen how Trump will threaten to cut off states and cities that disagree with him—and how Elon will warp government to benefit his companies and hurt his competitors. Voting against this CR is about our ability to be a voice for our constituents here in Congress.

There is a reason why Elon and Russ Vought want Congress to pass Speaker Johnson's slush fund CR. We should not let Elon and Trump pick winners and losers or defund programs they either don't like or don't understand. They will hurt blue AND red states. VOTE NO.
