Hal fixing a lightbulb kind of day. Go to get a fresh bath towel. Damp because the sink is leaking. Go get some tools. Flashlight is really weak. Check with multimeter, <1v. Grab the last 4 AAAs. Put AAAs on the shopping list. Go back to tear apart the faucet. Looks like a crushed o-ring.
Two o-rings that are crushed.

Update from @trimet.org today: Without additional revenue, TriMet's budget deficit will ultimately force the agency to cut in excess of 33% of its total service by 2030 or 2031. This is what a 31% service could look like:
Eliminating 30 of 79 bus lines (38% of bus lines).
Ending weekend service on many bus lines.
Ending service on many bus lines after 9pm.
Shutting down WES Commuter rail system.
MAX frequency goes from 15 mins to 20 mins (3 trains per hour vs 4)
Bus frequent services goes from 15 mins to 17.5 mins.

ahahaha the Controller's report on wrecking Sunset Dunes came in at $9.8M in capital costs plus $500K-$1.9M every year to maintain the road would be an unhinged use of money
RE: Proposition G – Allowing Private Vehicles on the Great Highway in Sunset Dunes Park
Dear Mr. Arntz,
Should the proposed Ordinance be approved by the voters and the roadway is open to private
vehicles, in my opinion, it would significantly increase the cost of government by approximately
$9.8 million in one-time capital costs and by approximately $500,000 to $1.9 million annually. The
cost of the proposed Ordinance, should it be approved by the voters, is dependent on decisions
that the Mayor and Board of Supervisors make through the budget process and operational
decisions made by departments, as an ordinance cannot bind future Mayors and Boards of
Supervisors to provide funding for this or any other purpose.

The Amtrak Empire Builder from Chicago to Seattle is 5h20m late. Likely due to the forest fires that have been surrounding Spokane where it recently departed. It is the second most delayed train in North America. Award goes to Via Rail for Canadian service to Toronto at 8h20m late.

That was not too hard. 10 Lucky St. San Francisco. It has not changed one bit in 80 some years.
Google street view showing the same street in 2025 the Luis was asking about. The street view is unchanged structurally. On the right are 4 apartments with square bay windows on the second floor just like in the 1938 photo. On the left there is a 3 story apartment with a back stair with a metal mesh door opening onto the street. Then a fenced off plot, a garage and a set of 2 story apartments with stairs up to the second floor that are parallel to the street. There is gingerbreading at the roof line. This matches the 1938 photo. The horizon of Bernal Heights also matches the older photo.

There's a common type of victim blaming where people like to lecture cyclists about how they need to be hyper aware and on alert, but the reality is that cyclists are *already* hyper aware. We're always on alert because unsafe infrastructure makes it necessary.

Broke out of my small circle critiquing MaraLago food in the style of @katewagner.wehwalt.net bsky.app/profile/kevi...
Screenshot of a picture of a dinner plate from mar a lago posted on Twitter. The food is both expensive and carelessly assembled. The main feature is a shelled lobster claw flaccidly drooped across the center of the plate. The wrist of the lobster claw is elevated on something, maybe a scallop or a lobster tail? There is some sort of cream sauce or foam topping. Next to it is a green quenelle with an unusual texture. It is chunky. Above it is a salad of some sort. Frisee? There are 9 peas crookedly arranged in a semicircle going from about 11 o'clock to 7. Beneath the peas and lobster there is a thinly sliced white circle, guessing potato. This image has been marked up in the style of @McMansionHell.
