First year doing a Halloween glam and of course I choose some weeb nonsense. (Tai's an alchemist, that alchemy is basically magic anyway, he has the braid, it makes SENSE.) #FFXIV

Tai (a miqo'te man with pale skin, brown hair in a braid and long bangs pulled to the side, turquoise eyes, and dark markings around his eyes) dressed as a fantasy version of Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist: long red coat with some black accents, black undercoat, white gloves with markings on the back. He stands in a cozily-lit, dark-palette room, looking thoughtfully at a bookshelf.

Tai standing in a gray wasteland, with some vaguely fantasy/old Germanic-looking builings in the background and some sort of purple electrical disaster contained in some ruins. He is dressed as Edward and has punched one hand with the other, glaring at the camera. Behind him, an iron dwarf minion (a little suit of armor, meant to represent Alphonse Elric) seems to be cheering.

Tai in the same gray wasteland as before, kneeling with the camera slightly tilted up. He is in the middle of some glowing leylines, which are slightly lifted from the ground, reminiscent of a transmutation circle. The little iron dwarf observes.

Tai back in the cozy dark room, now sitting on a stool at an alchemy workbench. He has his hands laced behind his head and leans back, showing off the leather pants and black, red-soled boots, and looking up at a poster on the wall showing a magic diagram. The workspace has bottles of reagents, herbs, notes stacked on the floor and pinned to the walls, and other alchemical accoutrement. The iron dwarf still observes, standing near Tai's feet.

"He does like men, you know."

Tai starts at the sound of Thancred's voice. The pages of his book snap back into focus, although he has no recollection of where he left off. Thancred smirks slightly where he stands at Tai's side.

"I'm sorry," he says mildly. "I must have missed something. Hello to you, too."

Thancred's smirk widens. He drops himself into an empty chair, takes a swig from his tankard, and nods toward the other side of the room. "Urianger, I mean." The man in question is engaged in some lively debate with Y'shtola and another Scion whose name has slipped Tai's mind. Tai had, perhaps, looked over once or twice, but did not see a need to interrupt.

Instead, he blinks at his own interruption, eyebrows raised. "Okay," he says. "Good to know?"

"He told me once over drinks, ages ago." Thancred continues, shrugging in feigned casualness. "Mind you, it's not a secret, if that is your concern. Said it simply does not come up often. Seemed like that might interest you."

"I can't imagine why," Tai lies flatly.

Thancred's chair creaks as the man leans forward and folds his arms on the table. Tai feels a knot of dread tighten in his belly. "While others might not notice," Thancred begins, "I couldn't help but observe that although you hold your book as though to read, your gaze is slightly raised. You haven't turned a page in five minutes. And, of course, there is a certain pathetic face you make whenever you stare at him for too long."

Tai tries to keep a straight face, but cannot help agitatedly flicking one ear. Yes, perhaps he had been distracted for a moment by the pale curve of Urianger's back where his robes cut enticingly low, and yes, he had noticed the fine gold chains that ran between Urianger's collar and pauldron to rest against his skin, and perhaps had imagined twisting them around his fingers and giving them a little tug—

He clears his throat and looks pointedly back down at his book. "I see nothing wrong with privately admiring a comrade's appearance," he replies primly.

Thancred chuckles quietly. "I would be the last to disagree, but I'm not sure if you're trying to convince me or yourself."

Tai didn't say it in those words, but he admits having feelings in EW as they're working in Labyrinthos. It doesn't go well; Urianger is a secretive & demisexual disaster & asks for time to think. (He's pretty sure, but there's a lot going on.) They resolve it after Ultima Thule. #FFXIV #Wolianger

Urianger was my personal favorite, but I had next to no thoughts about shipping Tai with him. I had been kicking around Y'shtola or Aymeric. Then that EW conversation about having regrets and struggling to do better hit me like a fucking truck and it was all over. :')
