They overruled the hiring decision of an old white athletics director named Bubba Cunningham to do this, to hire a guy at an unprecedented salary because they heard on TV that he was good at the football. What happened to the party of John Wayne......

Movement conservatives taking over the University of North Carolina and immediately turning the football team into a national disgrace once again shows how weird Republican cultural branding has become

I think Smith could successfully sue Schmitt for defamation now, since he's restating the falsehood outside of the Senate hearing, and by this point he clearly knows what he's saying is false

I noticed last year that sweetgreen pivoted to MAHA when it started advertising seed oil-free french fries. Going MAHA is what a failing restaurant chain does now to get free advertising.

people who tried to say the biden economy was good were making a mix of good and bad points. people trying to say the trump economy is good, which has all the problems of the biden economy plus skyrocketing interest rates, anemic hiring, and chaotic global trade, are straight up lying or delusional

in case anyone was wondering what happens if ants realize there’s sugar water in those waterpik flosser machines, the answer is that you shoot ants into your mouth WITH the water and don’t realize it until you spit them out into the sink

the British are deservedly mocked for how they pronounce quesadilla and tortilla, but the way they say taco is far stranger to me since the correct pronunciation is completely consistent with how those letters would be pronounced in English

the point is that when people have to make a very close call, they often reject someone for an arbitrary or picayune reason. There's generally not an expectation that the bottom of a mini fig be painted. And if it is, it's just the solid color of the base, so it doesn't demonstrate any skill.

m @keptsimple.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
yeah i don't understand why it's such a big sticking point for so many. It's like wearing sneakers to an interview. You don't want to give the interviewer any excuse to turn you down.

Literally every comment I've seen saying you should bring the iced coffee just kind of ignores the fact that there are going to be multiple other people interviewing this job who are qualified and need the job as much as you do. So why risk appearing too casual over this?

no not really.
020
m @keptsimple.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
you might be 1 of 10 or 20 people being interviewed for the job. the hiring committee or manager needs to reject all but 1. If I'm down to two candidates who are otherwise roughly equal, I'm probably not going to pick the one who didn't seem as serious about the job.
240
m @keptsimple.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
You probably shouldn't bring an iced coffee to a job interview if the job involves working in an office. I find it kinda weird that this is controversial. Most job vacancies have multiple candidates, so whether the hiring manager is a nice person doesn't really matter.
