tbf the index is an old piece of hardware. mine's been working fine for six years and only just a few months ago has the left headphone started to go, and i've moved it across the world in a suitcase four times now. same with my lighthouses. tbh i still trust valve's hardware more than most.

this is gonna sound wild but what got me out of my rut was seeing the ocarina of time remake and the design influences of that, i kind of want to do something that's reminiscent of puppetry in the same way. realistic texturing with hard, defined features and such.

The wifi dongle for wireless is also a huge sell for me as it’ll let me be a bit more expressive with my body language for acting. Once I get my fluxpose in I’ll be able to realistically do any body movement I’m capable of without issue.

recently my friend's comics professor told her that it's acceptable to use gen AI for script-writing but not for art, since a machine can't generate meaningful artistic work. meanwhile, my sister's screenwriting professor said that they can use gen AI for concept art and visualization, but that it won't be able to generate a script that's any good. and at my job, it seems like each department says that AI can be useful in every field except the one that they know best.

It's only ever the jobs we're unfamiliar with that we assume can be replaced with automation. The more attuned we are with certain processes, crafts, and occupations, the more we realize that gen AI will never be able to provide a suitable replacement. The case for its existence relies on our ignorance of the work and skill required to do everything we don't.

But that in itself though is something that requires you to like art as a subject. Speaking beyond just visual art, it’s why I get annoyed when I see furries smack talking performance and contemporary art. It shows a lack of care for the subject that is foundational to the fandom.
