Transport funding used to be “user pays” but over the last 5 years revenue hasn’t kept up with spending meaning that crown funding backfilling spending on roads and driving directly impacts hospitals, schools etc. Chris Slane from the NZ Herald.

One of the first things we figure out when doing cycleways, bus lanes, and low traffic areas is where pick-up, drop-off happens. We like to put them close, but not where they conflict with pedestrians. This one behind Karanga-a-hape Station has a little turning circle.

If Auckland, NZ, were a U.S. city, it'd be our fifth-largest. Its story is remarkable. One in five homes in Auckland has been built since 2017, and prices are down 20% from their pandemic peak. In today's third episode of YIMBY Country, two experts share the numbers of a wildly successful reform.

OG nimby with the playbook: -infrastructure is old and cannot cope with more development -Schools are full - wastewater and stormwater overflowing - need more planning - not enough green spaces. And of course, “Auckland needs housing where there is infrastructure to support it”
