Ready for another CSS-only diagram? This time, I am trying another connector type. It sticks to the selected sides, regardless of the node's position. css-tip.com/node-connect... Look how the lines get distorted! 👀 Another cool demo powered by border-shape, anchor position, and more!

I asked how much people use AI to write CSS on YouTube, and about 60% said they don't use it at all or use it only occasionally. I thought the balanced mix would be way higher. In the comments, most people complain that it's still bad at CSS, even if it's good at other stuff.
A poll asking These days when you're writing CSS, how much of it do you author yourself, vs what's coming from AI?

With over 1600 answers, almost 60% are in the don't use AI at all, or only use it occasionally camps. About 12% says they use a pretty balanced mix, and 29% saying they mostly or entirely use AI.

If I had one piece of advice for new solo devs it would be this: find a good game like yours and copy their UI. don't design your own UI. you are not as good at UI design as you think you are. in fact you are much worse

Chinese carmaker BYD unveils a recharge as fast as filling up with petrol. And no need to wear gloves. Certainly not coming to a forecourt near you in America because the fossil fuel giants and their puppets in government like making lots and lots of cool money from easily-conned petrolheads.

this is your weekly reminder that no matter what Slop and AI companies says, human written code is far better than stupid AI generated security reports.
Curl is also the most secure codebase I've seen. I tried
to hunt for vulnerabilities in it (having reviewed the
slop report collection for fun) and got zero hits. Maybe
some borderline documented behavior, but nothing
with any reasonable security impact. So I probably did
it right. But on almost every codebase I've reviewed
extensively in the past, including glibc, I've found at
least one issue with a security impact. Curl is the only
one which I've found completely clean as far as I could
see. I think the bounty program has been largely
beneficial to curl over the years and has overall
contributed positively to the project's security, despite
the recent downtrend. Keep it up

I've been playing around with Chrome's experimental HTML-in-Canvas API (I use it to create my videos), and I wanted to see if I could make text-selection work on a curved surface by moving the underlying element around on pointermove. It works pretty well!

CSS is DOOMed! I've build DOOM in CSS and every wall, floor, barrel, and imp is a div, positioned in 3D space using CSS transforms. cssdoom.wtf Try it out! But... not every browser can handle it. This is taking the browser to its limit. Chrome has some issues. Safari too. Bugs will be filed.

There’s a massive difference between using AI to solve a problem vs using it to generate a solution. The output looks the same, but the growth is worlds apart. Sadly, it seems most people are settling for the shortcut and missing the true value of AI.

I’ve been trying to build this for years. Finally getting there. Palette analysis like DawnBringer or Censor, but in real time. I want feedback while picking colors, not after the fact. I think this direct feedback loop makes it much easier to make informed decisions when composing a palette.

My favourite AI prompts: "look at this code and tell me how it works", "why is this broken", "how should I use this API", "show me an example that ..." Sessions focussed on learning both feel 1M times better than "code this for me" they more often lead to results I am proud and confident of.
