there’s that; even more, though, there’s the existential threat of the climate crisis…. it’s sadly already more than apparent that Labour under Burnham is totally incapable of responding as needed

I’m not talking about Labour. I would be far less upset about all of this if I didn’t believe that UK politics is completely f#$&ed without the Greens

that he wasn’t even there will be part of the problem (and I understand how the Greens are run) but, more importantly, it’s been framed as his success that the party expanded, the flip side is that it will be his failure that this group of people was drawn in

yes, I’ve had the “why would you object to a name change” line as well…. I mean these people can’t be real, can they?

I’m not convinced even that would have much effect: Netanyahu seems just like Putin in that the calculus is now solely about personal self preservation.

but to make the basis of that argument the idea that a two state solution has so far failed in practice and this would be the required speedy solution that people just weren’t able to see…words fail

I’ve yet to see a single meaningful action (stopping weapons deliveries, isolating the Israeli government internationally, sanctions, unbanning PA) that it in any shape or form required this motion…. it’s kind of heroic that the post is at least trying to run with the one bit that does..

kdw @kdw.bsky.social · 9h
….if this weren’t so important in so many ways, one could just sit down and study the myriad of basic argument failures and self contradictions in this document and the surrounding debate- it would be fascinating

kdw @kdw.bsky.social · 9h
the issue was the use of the words ‘cheering’ and ‘unconditional support’ which I don’t think fit the publicly available evidence why is it ‘uninformed’ or ‘cherry picking’ if in trying to make that case I point to the bits of the evidence that don’t fit with ‘cheering’?

kdw @kdw.bsky.social · 9h
a *single Palestinian state* would also obviously have been blocked over those 90 years so why exactly is the Green Party proposal a viable (and speedy) alternative?

kdw @kdw.bsky.social · 9h
I have no problem with actual facts. I think they’re all important. What I do have a problem with is inflammatory rhetoric that uses words in ways that are completely at odds with their normal meaning- that’s just propaganda and I think it virtually always ultimately does more harm than good

I understand the desire to speak well of the dead, and am sure that Archer, like all of us, was a mix of good and bad. But the tendency to indulge dishonesty, so long as it's by a loveable scamp, has done real damage to British politics. We should be a bit wary of the "isn't he a card?" thing.
