Don’t people under the age of 40 know what I mean when I say “they taught themselves to code and got hired to do Y2K stuff?” I just found myself saying it and realized young people might not realize how big a deal the Y2K was and how so many art majors became software developers.

Working at Hennepin County around 2002 we would get $5 Guthrie tickets, which was all I could afford. I had friends working at the MN Orchestra who gave me free tickets there. Now that I have more money, I support these places and others. Free tickets are the gateway drug to subscription packages.

My family is a park family. We use a Minneapolis park nearly every day, year round. The parks are what make Minneapolis the best place to raise a family in the US and must be protected at all costs.

Started round 4 of PT for my hip today. I was talking to the new PT about the last round and how the vibes were weird and we didn't do any real exercises and he just looked at me and said "because they are a cult." Sooooo, anyway, it makes a lot more sense now.

I’m sorry but I absolutely judge you if you send your kids to charter schools instead of MPS. Charters only test better because they get to kick out whatever kids they deem unfit. They’re racist & ableist & classist and worse for children in every way.

Made the first oven meal in months: coconut milk chicken and rice from a NY Times cookbook. It was delicious and I’m happy it’s cool enough to be able to eat cozy meals again.

Oof. A driver hit a parked car on our block. It set off the horn and it didn’t stop for felt like a very, very long time, but was probably around 5 minutes. It was incredibly loud.

The framing of "nobody is suggesting that trans kids should get surgeries" has been driving me up the wall. Yes. Trans kids should get surgeries. After a year+ of waiting, I took my trans kid to a surgery consultation just to be told that as of a week prior, they couldn't do it until kid is 18.

We did a volcano outside with our kid (baking soda, vinegar, red dye) and now the whole area is swarmed by bees. They must smell the vinegar and like that? Anyway, that ended outdoor play time.

DFL politicians are all pro-labor until they have actual employee unions. Then they do shit like refuse to negotiate with their staff unions about Return to Office or fix the abusive use of Temporary Unclassified employees. They care about carpenters, not project managers and epidemiologists

High School Sports! Its that time of year again, the time when the Strib ignores most of the girl sports in order to have 20 articles about football. In their Varsity section there are 56 stories/videos (without clicking anything) on their front page. 19 are about girls and almost all at the bottom

40th is the e/w bike blvd for S Minneapolis and sucks because there're NO traffic signals at any of the major streets east of 35. There's other reasons it was a bad street to make the blvd, but that's a big one. If they want anyone to use it, the Cedar/40th intersection needs a real traffic signal.

I read this and think- why aren't businesses supporting universal health care? Then I remember that they don't care, they just pass these costs on to employees in premiums and lower wages. Fucking capitalism, man.

In the subreddit r/minnesotastatefair there is a whole thread on gossip and this is posted. Controversy!!! I feel like someone should look into it like @racketmn.com
a reddit post by BookiesAndCookies22. It says Karen Cope, 6x supreme baker is actually a professional recipe developer and works for flagstone foods. Yet, somehow, they still let her win. The fair rules defines professional as people who profit directly or indirectly from their baking.

She also won supreme by 1pt to another baker, Gary. So if I was Gary I’d be pissed.

Anyone know a shareable snack that follows Smart Snack Guidelines that I can easily get a box of at Cub Foods? I can find the rules online, but not a list of things that actually meet the guidelines.
A check box and then text that says 2-3 boxes of snack to be shared amongst the class (please follow smart snack guidelines)
