The 2026 line ran off the top of the Niño 3.4 chart, so Climate Reanalyzer had to raise the ceiling from 30°C to 31°C. Ocean temps in the heart of this El Niño are running about 3°C above the early October average and higher than any other year on record for this time of year.

Neuroscientist here. I have studied the brain for 40 years. I make serious use of machine learning and AI in my research. Sam Altman is full of shit. These machines are not conscious, any more than a movie of a train coming out of the screen is a train. AI does remarkable things but isn’t real.

My husband and I talk a lot about the fact that we've made a great life for our family. But it takes two parents working with two relatively high incomes to afford the single family home and similar life to what we both had growing up in the 80s and 90s with 1 parent working and the other at home.

The ability to speak to a child, really be down on their level, is truly touching. And not always easy. To treat a child as a human to be listened to and heard is to signal that's how you'll treat all humans in your care. I despair that so few leaders in our lives right now know the Golden Rule.

People love to shit on Google but it's EXTREMELY well positioned to lead this. They've refined an algorithm over years that elevates legitimate, relevant sites/content and suppresses the billions of spam pages that would otherwise surface. ChatGPT has uses but is NOT a search engine.
