If Sadiq Khan is truly a trans ally, he shouldn't be allowing J.K. Rowling's new Harry Potter lights on Oxford Street. Help us pull the plug on transphobia 👇 goodlaw.social/3440b9

A quick statement from us at LGBTIQA+ Greens on the Holborn and St Pancras by-election. I also personally thank all our members who went down to campaign for Zack or did phone banking. Win or lose any single election. It's about moving the needle more towards the Greens until we are in government.

Same, I'm sure we could get through the whole agenda for once with the two of us.

An important note is that the Green Party isn't now completely pro-nuclear. We just wouldn't close existing sites, and we won't rule out new sites if it was the only way of eliminating fossil fuels as quickly as possible. Renewables remain our priority for energy generation.

Maggie Chapman is absolutely right. Attacking the rights of trans and migrant people will do nothing to improve women's rights.

A beautiful visualisation of the network. Plus, it shows that services in and between core cities should be expanded so more people can make journeys locally by train and make London less of a central hub.

Totally agree, like I'm a massive fan of Terry Pratchett, and I think about his wishes towards the end of his life whenever this comes up. But at the end of the day, he had the privilege of being able to make an informed decision, and unfortunately, we can't say that for the vast majority of people.

Can help campaign if you can get down there for an action day, donate if you have the money, or do some phone banking to help get people out on the doorstep. We win this thing with people power, which Labour can't come close to.

Yep, if we had a society where disabled people's lives were valued and society wasn't hostile to us existing, then we could talk about assisted dying, but we're very far from that point.

I know, only a 16 vote majority.

The assisted dying bill has been defeated. I am relieved. It would've enabled disabled people to be coerced into being killed rather than receiving the care, support, and adjustments we need to live.

What I think says about the current state of affairs is that people don't care if something is actually true or not. That is horrifying to me.

I mean, I think we don't usually say selected in content like this, though usually the candidate doesn't have to say they are going for selection in the press, because otherwise it would've been leaked.

I'm always excited about new trains and happy with the level boarding, we should have that from any new rolling stock, it's archaic and dehumanising for us wheelchair users to have to wait for ramps all the time. But why the batteries? It's more efficient in the long run to just install more wires.

The UK is voting on the Assisted Dying bill today. Most disability organizations oppose it. Safeguards have already been removed or rejected. Please listen to disabled Canadians. What was meant to be dignified quickly became coercive eugenics aimed at the most vulnerable.

I find it extremely funny that the Israeli government thinks banning our MPs from entering Israel is going to do anything. Like if Green MPs want to hop on a plane to go to a genocidal apartheid state. Especially as we have a genocidal apartheid state at home.

Our Co-Chairs sat down with @edpoole1975.bsky.social to talk about two very important motions making it through conference, about the EHRC and trans people in sport. It's a long watch, but we're confident you'll enjoy it as much as we do as a committee.

I have the opposite issue, I'm a film nerd. I'm very annoying to watch things with because I need to pause it every so often to talk about something. If I try to stop myself critically analysing media, I will explode.

By not prefectly, I mean that there are a couple of issues, but I think on the whole it's a good representation. It doesn't do anything close to the problems with something like Moon Knight, like thanks Marvel, another thing about DID where the character has an alter that's a ruthless murderer.

A pre-merger of Fox and Disney x-men adjacent property that is about mental health, which treats the subject surprisingly well, though not perfectly.

I have asked the Chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission to come to Brighton, and today Brighton came to me with so many stories of how the EHRC Code of Practice is impacting them. Trans lives are already being harmed, and the EHRC needs to hear this.
Image is of Siân with three staff members from Refuge UK. They are stood smiling in Westminster Hall in the Houses of Parliament. A crowd of people is visible in the background participating in the mass lobby for trans equality. Image is of Siân holding a notebook and pen. She is stood in front of desks, staffed by people in high-vis jackets. A placard is resting against a table and reads: Trans people deserve real equality.

Great to be at the @transsolidarity.bsky.social event in Parliament today and to speak to so many amazing folk who took the trouble to come down and meet their MPs. I will never stop fighting for the rights of my trans siblings and the whole LGBTQ+ community.
Carla stands in in an old part of Westminster in front of a crowd of people. She is holding a sign that reads "Trans people deserve real equality" (the word real is underlined). Carla stands in an old part of Westminster. She is in conversation with two people. They are all smiling.

I work with MLs all the time, I don't care that much about which way other people lean in lefttism as long as we have goals that align and people aren't horrble to each other.

I completely agree that the party has a misogyny problem, I don't know a woman who is involved in the party who hasn't been affected by it.

So I believe it's her conduct that is the reason for her suspension, especially as there are multiple trans people elected to the same body as her and would be responsible for her suspension. Including another trans woman elected as a woman, a transmasc in the men's position, and non-binary people.

She has claimed the Golders Green attack was a false flag, praised the death of Zionists, and downplayed the crimes of the Iranian regime. Antisemitic conspiracy theories and downplaying the oppression of the Iranian people only further hate rather than standing against crimes of the US and Israel.

I've personally tried to work with Eleanora in the Green Party, and my experience was a nightmare. She outright bullied me and others to get her way, shutting down others who didn't even disagree with her aims, just the approach that we should take to achieve them.

If the party did return to being captured by transphobes and was suspending people for being trans, I would absolutely be calling the party out for that, as the main point of my legal claim against the party was to make sure that it never happened again to any trans people.

In the intervening years, we pulled the Greens back from anti-trans bigots and made the party a proactive place for trans people. We now pass policies like informed consent for medical transition unanimously at conference, and we are clearly against the exclusion of trans people from public life.

I don't think that Stats for Lefties was suspended for being trans. I say this as someone that was suspended by the same Green Party body as Eleanora, in my case it was for being trans back in 2021 when the party was in a very different place than it is today. www.opendemocracy.net/en/trans-uk-...
