We did that math. I was a public school teacher. My paycheck would not cover daycare for our kids. My husband‘s salary and benefits were better so I left the workforce and stayed home with them.

I’m writing a paper for graduate school this week and we can’t use any research articles older than 10 years. I was reading a great article from about 2009 and felt really old when I realized that was longer than 10 years ago and I couldn’t use it. 🤣🤦‍♀️

I can’t share the video but the parent of one of my students (I do private intensive dyslexia intervention for free) sent me a video of the student reading a book for the first time - it was amazing. The child’s previous school said the child had “too many issues” and could not be taught to read.

I went to the same middle school as Amy Ayers. They planted a tree for her in the courtyard and I walked by it every day. Her mom came and talked to us a few years later, I think. I was scared to get a job as a teen because I thought it might happen to me. It made a huge impact on my teenage years.

I do it at the end of individual dyslexia therapy for kids. They pick a book and spend a good 5 minutes relaxing while I read. Today in sessions I read Flora and Ulysses, Shiloh, The Bletchley Riddle, and I Survived the Great Molasses Flood. I imagine it would be delightful in college too!

Been reading this book this week and it’s been very interesting. I’m in my first month as a dyslexia therapist and when kids say “But why do people do it this way?” I like to be able to give an answer. I’ve been going around saying ComMENdable like a vulgar peasant my whole life apparently. 🤣🤣
