FACTCHECK: UK Conservatives double the ‘cost of net-zero’ after spreadsheet blunder The Tory "Right Way" booklet makes an erroneous claim about the cost of cutting emissions, possibly taken from a Jan26 thinktank report, and deffo the most idiotic error I've seen for a while 🧵

After hearing mindfulness and breathing trotted out as the magical answer on yet another webinar (this time menopause related chronic pain) I've decided that my wellbeing plan is to sack webinars and just take a proper break at lunchtimes to go and swear with the pigeons by the fountains.

I've been shocked and quite upset by misinformation and hatred towards the RNLI in recent days, that's flooded social media. They represent the very best of British values in saving all lives at sea. Anyone aiming hate at them is seriously mixed up. rnli.org/news-and-med...

Since its foundation in 1824 the bravery of Royal National Lifeboat Institution volunteers has saved more than 146,700 lives at sea. Hundreds of those volunteers have died attempting to save others. They are the best of us.

Disposable items banned
With the political temperature soaring, and a special COBRA meeting drawing particular attention, Downing Street today made a shock announcement. In the spirit of open and transparent government, an anonymous Government spokesperson, speaking on background to selected lobby hacks, declared a ban on disposable Prime Ministers.

“Over the last decade we’ve seen repeated wildfires ravage the political landscape, with carefully grown reputations burnt to the ground. All efforts by valiant SPADs and image consultants have been unable to control these conflagration, which have caused misery in particular habitats. Any new growth seems to dry out and become fuel for further infernos..
Therefore today we are taking firm action on the causes of this change in political climate. It will be a criminal offence to even think about - let alone arrange the purchase and use of - a disposable Prime Minister. Our experts assure us that…” (cont p.94)
