It’s outrageous the degree to which ECRs are also expected to cover it up on their CVs? I’m not working class, but I scrubbed pots and bussed tables to put myself through grad school. If I was hiring, I’d take the person who worked to be there over the person whose parents pay for them to be there.

Do you sanitise your CV for the postdoc job market? My last two jobs came from an academic CV that had no trace of the decade I spent waiting tables, scrubbing pots, or babysitting. This never sat right with me. How do you work this in without cluttering the CV?

Question for #AcademicSky: You reject on methodological grounds — convenience sampling and borderline results that would shift w/ a redesign. Editor overrules, issues R&R, invites you back. The methods likely remain the same. When is it acceptable to decline a re-review?

New paper in Nature. The more a government controls its domestic media, the more it dominates AI training data, the more pro-regime outputs we get from AI. By scraping the open web, LLMs are unwittingly laundering state-coordinated narratives into seemingly objective answers.

Just resharing! Ipsos UK have clarified that their data was used for an independently-produced seat projection for STV rather than an in-house forecast. And we're happy to set the record straight.

From the St Andrews side, there were relatively few ‘twists’. Our total seat projection (which, by the way, was built by 14 undergrads and 2 PhDs) was the most accurate in the U.K. Beating out big companies on the big stuff.
