Remember the poster inspired by stained glass? Well, I decided to actually try making a mini version, in real glass. I haven't cut or solder glass in my entire life. Maybe starting with 32 pieces was a bad idea. I forgot I could’ve just painted glass instead. It’s awful. I love it. #sciart #art

I’m so happy that I’ve finally done a firefly&glowworm themed piece! When we talk about bioluminescent insects, we usually first think of those flying & twinkling little fairies. However, many of them are in the form of wingless “worms”, and I found them equally fascinating 💙

Today, ESA released a giant batch of survey data from the Euclid Telescope! Euclid has already spotted 26 million galaxies, & that was just in one week of observations 🤯 Here’s the Deep Field South view & an example of the galaxies being catalogued. Beautiful! Good at making you feel smol.

It’s been 4 years since I started designing mission patches! Throw back to my first, Teidesat, a student initiative from the Canary Islands, (the first!) they want to send an optical message from LEO to Teide’s ground station, I hid the message in the orbit. Extra points if you decode it! #sciart

There are two signals here. One is localised (terrestrial, resulting from human activities). The other, originating ~2415 light-years away is the result of a rapidly rotating 20km diameter object with an extremely strong magnetic field. If you squint, you'll be able to see a pulsar in there.

Saw recently Hank Green geeking on Jupiter’s moons, and it reminded me of this old poster! 410 years ago, Galileo spotted what seemed like stars near Jupiter. After several nights he realized they were moons orbiting Jupiter. 🔭 This was Inspired by his notes & sketches! #sciart

Happy International Women’s Day! I spoke a bit about recovering from burnout and doing my best not to feel completely overwhelmed right now. Someone commented I was inspirational. I said I didn’t feel very inspirational. But they reminded me small moments of light still shine brightly in the dark.
