I keep repeating: Trans people are the canaries in the coal mine. And yet a few weeks ago, instead of showing solidarity, a cisgender gay man told my dad I will never be a real woman, and here's what's going to keep happening as a result

Ngl for a second I thought it said "transfem" the state and I was totally ready to click that link!!!

I get this, and I don't blame them, but . . . Germany could elect another dictator (see: A f D) or China could end up with another Mao. No alliance is ever 100% safe.

I am so glad that here in the States, at least, I can now just wave my hands and go "ooh, sportsball!" and no one expects me to have an opinion. Sexist? I suppose. A relief? Absolutely.

There must and absolutely will be a reckoning.

Just finished THE WARMTH OF OTHER SUNS, an absolutely brilliant book about the daily sadism of Jim Crow and the transformative nature of the Great Migration, which continues to impact all of our lives today. Could not recommend enough for those who love nonfiction.

Affirming, progressive, anti-Trump, social justice, liberationist churches would not be dying out if all the people who also want those things stopped giving evangelicals the credibility they do not deserve. Do not believe them when they say they are the only ones who will be around in 20 years.

I am infuriated that I constantly have to inform people that Revelation (no 's' on the end!) is about Nero and Rome and not the end times!

Now re-run at 0.01. Wait, why is there two different answers, wildly different? Run again at 0.01. Wait, it's even more wildly different. Explain. No, I just told you to re-run using the same data, why did you add that new variable! What do you mean, you forgot, you're a computer! Re-run. NO, again!

The Karlie Chronicles @karliechronicles.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

Exactly. It's being missed that these programs are NOT analyzing the data. That is not what's happening. They are not doing problem-solving. They merely use the rules of chance to guess at an answer and give a different answer EVERY TIME they are asked. Helluva way to run a railroad.

After all the times people in STEM sneered at me for being a Christian . . . (I say this as some one with a Mechanical Engineering degree who has worked as both an engineer and a computer programmer)

And it's not as simple as going back to school. School is expensive and time-consuming, and so for many people not an option.

Heating bills, food prices, transportation, and gas. Going to be a tough winter, especially since so many people are falling behind.

Well this is great, James. Now apply it to trans people, too. As a candidate for ordination in the United Methodist Church, I can assure you it applies to us, also. @jamestalarico.bsky.social

I lost my web dev job two and a half years ago, doing Angular. I'd been doing it for six years. Never got employed again. Got an MDiv, now am an advocate at a domestic violence center.

This is true but in the corporate world the default assumption is that you are lying. Or at least that's been how I've been treated for my many years in that world.

Um . . . faith? Really? Nobody involved with any faith whatsoever should be touching that with a ten foot pole. I would have no problem with purity laws being reinstated for that technology. Kidding! Maybe . . .

Is it me or is Nextdoor mostly conservatives spreading stories about lazy people on welfare and high crime and how we should expand the police state? because I am in awe of how bad it really is, even in a blue county.

It's ok, I'm sure the stock market will find a way to still go up on Monday. Maybe dear leader will promise the equivalent of the Berlin Airlift or resupplying Stalingrad by air or stopping the brits from escaping at Dunkirk by using only the air force . . . oh wait, two of those three didn't work

Dear Reverend Stallworth: The Global Methodist Church is right over there. We've had this argument. Your side left. Stop beating the dead horse and stirring up trouble. We follow tradition, but also scripture, reason, and experience. Every generation must interpret for its time.

Mae does a good job of calling out the yellow streak in @jamestalarico.bsky.social 's back. I am so tired of being abandoned by cisgender Democrat “allies” when it is convenient. The point of being an ally, you may remember, is to come to the aid of those being attacked?
