My mom was a really really really good Gardener and I am not. But I have done my best to keep this area of the yard looking good because I just know she would strike me down if not. It's really pretty. I think so anyway.

Dozens of Black-Veined White butterflies (Aporia crataeai) swarm a kayak by the Vagran River in the Ural Mountains of Russia. 🦋 The butterflies are attracted to the salt from human sweat on the kayaker's gear and clothing. This happens in early summer when these butterflies emerge. #butterfly

Pink and aqua hushed twilight at Lost Ponds, Mattatuck State Forest, Plymouth, Connecticut. May 23, 2017, 8:46 PM. #sunset #hiking #forest #lake
Night is falling upon a small pond surrounded by forest. We are standing on an outcrop of gray rock on a small patch of open shoreline. Several small leafy green plants are growing through cracks in the rock. The rock is dimly visible in the fading light, the forest and low ridges along the far shore are silhouetted against a darkening pale blue sky with hazy streaks of thin clouds. A pink glow lingering past sunset tints a large swath of sky. This is mirrored on the still lake waters below.
