How do you get people to understand “hey, please tell the immunocompromised person you have a cold BEFORE they walk into your house” is important? & that once someone who lives in the house is sick, that person just staying on the opposite side of the room from you doesn’t actually remove the risk?

I’m now seeing advertisements for generative AI centered around making things accessible and assisting disabled people. What’s infuriating is that if generative AI was done right, ethically, with actual oversight, it could be a powerful tool for accessibility. But that’s not what we have.

A not fun fact about disability that nondisabled people seem to be unable to perceive: Disabled people are more likely to live in poverty and less likely to be able to afford preventative care or routine treatments for conditions that start small and snowball.

Part of how I know I go to the right synagogue for me: the person sitting next to me’s tallis (prayer shawl) had the words “never again for everyone” and “free Palestine” on it, and the talks were once again full of advocacy and community and mutual support. Truly a shul built on Tikkun Olam.

Remarkable how exhausting it can be to get an infusion. Four hours of sitting in a comfy chair, napping for most of it, and it still leaves me completely drained. At least I’ve finally gotten better at remembering not to schedule anything else on infusion day!

At my apartment’s pool, and got hit with how badly I wanted to be a parent. I had always planned to adopt, and then changed that plan to fostering when I was older and understood better. Chronic illness ended that dream.

Lovely to have it confirmed that being 38 + a PhD pretty much automatically meant being denied for #SSDI, even though we knew that almost everyone is denied at first. Apparently it’s extremely likely my case will end up with a hearing. But at least I’ve started the process of having a lawyer for it…
