In today's dollars, since 1984, tax cuts to the wealthy, corporate tax cuts and increases to the military has added $27 trillion to the federal deficit. That's before the current tax cuts on the table. That is not a made up number but a rather easy to calculate with minimal research.

I just feel if the average death (using that loosely) is 72 then retirement should be set around 55 so they can enjoy it. Who wants to retire at 65-70 with maybe 10 years of life left?

Okay, between 15 and 20%, or about 2 million, illegal immigrants work in the farm and hotel industry. Trump has now twice said he's going to, basically, not deport them. How is this not driving MAGA bonkers? www.fresnobee.com/news/califor...

As farmworker deportations loom, Donald Trump hints at relief for agriculture
At peak harvest, an estimated 500,000 workers are needed in California to pick, pack and ship fruit and nuts all over the world.

If you think Trump cares about deficits, you're wrong. His bankruptcies confirm he doesn't watch the bottom line Trumps has only cared about one thing and that's making a mark on history. That's why he puts his name on everything He's not collecting all this money for deficits. For what, then?

I find it sad and ironic that Trump is negotiating a nuclear agreement with Iran that will be largely like the one he scuttled all those years ago. Nothing has changed except iran has had a lot of time to work in secret. That, and Trump's need to look like a peacemaker. Desparate to make a mark.

Trump's signature is use other people's money to further his name. Trump this and Trump that he lost other people's money Sound familiar? He is going to use this tariff money to make history - a substantial cut or tax elimination for 75% of the middle class The irony? It's our money he will use

Trump points to Europe's ECB lowering interest rates but fails to note that, unlike the US, the EU has not raised tariffs on all of their trading partners and has even delayed those aimed at the US. In short, they are not expecting inflation but, instead, recession. Due to Trump, we expect both.

TikTok TikTok Trump thinks, for the Chinese, this is just business If they feel they are being disrespected, Trump will either need to give a lot more or they may just refuse to allow the US from spinning off part of TikTok The longer he ignores them, the less likely the TikTok deal goes through

I wish it was easier to get ahold of my representatives in Congress. I want to tell them to stop being so reactionary. Honestly! What happened to hope and ideas - two things Democrats are known. This "rage against the machine" may feel good in the moment but it ends up being a senseless waste.

Republicans could, using the tariffs and budget cuts, reasonably eliminate income tax for all making <$100,000 = 75% all filers. Transition period of 1 year while promoting this cut in the last 6 months of that, they would win in a landslide in 2026 and 2028 likely close to supermajorities

The next election shouldn't be between two sides competing for who can gin up the most rage and fear about their opponents Instead I think we model it after Obama and emphasize hope and kindness and how we're going to make life better for the working class Don't take the bait. Do what we do best

Once trade stabilizes again at 10% baseline across the board, the government will be collecting hundreds of billions in new revenue Trump has already suggested tariffs could replace income tax. While I doubt that, I do wonder Could he offer a big middle class tax cut before an important election?

Democrats need to drop the political theater of endless - and, ultimately, fruitless - investigations and impeachment. The working class consumer is going to suffer and I'd like to hear more about how they're going to fight that. Pols say doing nothing is tacit approval. Does that apply to leaders

Anger works for Republicans because it pairs nicely with fear. They are the party of anger and fear and we will never be able to beat them on those terms. Why? Because we are the party of hope. We pair that with kindness As long as we rage and try to emulate their divisive politics, we will lose

When Trump said that he wanted to "Make America Great Again", did anyone bother to ask him, "For who?" Because for women, people of color, immigrants, LGBT+, the poor, children and counting, things are much less "great" after just 80 days. That's well over 1/2 the country.

Now can we get some clarity on where all this new revenue (10% across the board tariffs) is going to go? It's not in any budget Congress has passed I still say call you Congressional delegation and tell them that 100% of tariff should offset middle class taxes We're paying for these, give it back

What some people aren’t factoring into their analysis is the reality that companies were buying tons of inventory to beat the tariffs. That’s cash taken from being able to invest or hire. In fact the probably cut costs and jobs as a result. #econsky

The Chinese know how much Trump wants TikTok. He did everything but hire a skywriter to tie TikTok to his trade war by offering to lower tariffs "a bit" if they approved the sale. The future of TikTok in the USA is the easiest thing to measure in this war. It may become it's first casualty.

I can't be the only one wondering where all the tariff money is going? Opinions, maybe, but, really, where is it? Why don't we know with certainty? Treasury? Buying crypto? Trumps slush fund? Congress would have had to address tariffs to allocate it. Should be given back to the middle class.

So doing some back of the envelope math, I estimate that, if the GOP used 60% of tariffs for tax relief in an effort to buy next year's election, a household making 50k - 100k would see a $1000 reduction or about 10%. They'd be buying the election using tariffs consumers paid. Hmmm...
