In today's dollars, since 1984, tax cuts to the wealthy, corporate tax cuts and increases to the military has added $27 trillion to the federal deficit. That's before the current tax cuts on the table.

I didn't pull that number out of thin air. Check my math.

Trump was working off "Art of the Deal" concepts when he should have used "The Art of War". He opened up too many fronts in his trade war and underestimated China. We get to pay for that obvious mistake and it's a reminder that geopolitical strategies do not follow business strategies.

I could add that his complete lack of faith before running for office suggests he doesn't believe, or denies. Jesus is Christ and also the father and son.

Don't understand Christians voting for Trump. He denies the lessons of Jesus Christ, divides Christianity between those who fervently support him, whom he deceives, and those who vehemently oppose him, whom he persecutes, claims divine authority and has a spirit of deception. Anti-christ, anyone?

Not only that but just saying those words makes it increasingly difficult for the IRS to do anything. Harvard has an army of law graduates so this may be a fight he can't win.

It's in our constitution that way though nothing is stopping the government from declaring it a mandatory federal holiday or making it compulsory. Easier than changing the constitution.

Both Rubio and Trump support aggressive measures against left-wing groups like Antifa including surveillance and potential terrorist designations. However, they criticize similar actions taken by Germany against a right-wing party, the AfD, despite evidence of extremist rhetoric and actions.

Agreed. The timing, the depiction and the poster make this indefensible by any Christian standard. He might as well have spit on the Pope at his funeral in addition to wearing a blue suit when the Vatican asked for black only. Just a further slight to Catholics everywhere.

Seriously. Trump embodies none of the traits of a Pope. None. He is so far removed from Pope that I am going with Anti-christ.

"Revenge of the Turds" , as it were. Society moved past them and they want to take us back. Trump and his ilk are only too happy to use them to get what they want.

I agree. It irritates me when people lump all Christians together. Freedom of religion in the constitution was put in there largely because of Christian-on-Christian persecution at the time So when did Christian become one thing instead of many denominations with wildly different interpretations?

I think we're circling. Considering he is in power and there is nothing you or I can do to change that, don't you think we could wait for actual evidence of something he's done to before labeling his election a "disaster" I understand your point of view and I hope you understand mine. That's all.

Did you hear that Japan said out loud that, as the largest holder of US treasuries, using them is a card on the table for negotiations.

I agree but hard not to make a comparison when we continue to sink on issues like health care, climate change and stability. They look better now because we look so bad.

Kael @kaeldurand.bsky.social · 03/05/2025
My point was that we haven't seen how or if this is going to be implemented. Politicians say a lot of things in a campaign I can't tell you what types of regulations they'll have to adhere or what methods of extraction they'll be allowed to use It's hyperbole to call this a disaster at this time.

I agree but his position in the government was ceremonial and had virtually no power. Like Trump, Hitler stole powers he did not have. So the mirror between Trump and Hitler is stunning.

People who follow a person who is "never wrong" are inclined to share that trait with him.

I just saw that. All Catholics should be deeply offended him doing that so soon after the Popes's death and before a new one is even seated. That's his problem in a nutshell: he's a sociopath with no concept of right and wrong.

Didn't Trump get pretty much the same powers from the Supreme Court? Because I'm pretty sure they said that was part of his job description.

I grew up Lutheran. Growing up in a religious household, church was a place to learn how to be better people. At least for us. Today, people either find one that says they're fine exactly how they are or the start one like that. Many "Christian" churches exist to reinforce greed and bigotry.

Kael @kaeldurand.bsky.social · 03/05/2025
Not to mention that the founding fathers placed freedom of religion in the constitution the were mostly concerned about Christian on Christian persecution in addition to other religions. It was a real problem at the time Point is, there is no "Christian" but hundreds, maybe thousands, denominations

If I had my choice of what religious icon he should dress as, I'd choose Muhammad and let the extremists have him. Not meant as a comment on Islam, only radical elements who call themselves that. Much like our Christian extremists who don't are not Christians. Where are the US bishops on this?

I say somebody dress him up like Muhammad and let the Islamic extremists have him.

Yeah. But I had to work with numbers Trump would understand. I'm sure one of his cronies explained what 145% was by now.

Here's a thought, photoshop him as Muhammad and hope it posts it.

Trump's timing is perfect. Wearing a dead man's robes without a leader in the Vatican to scold him. I know Catholic bishops in the US tend to be more conservative than the Church but nothing? Really?

The idiots won't get it at all and billionaires get it too well. Kill off the poor, sick and elderly by letting disease run rampant and you'll have this worker society of able-bodied people.
042
Kael @kaeldurand.bsky.social · 03/05/2025
Almost like they're trying to create an uninformed society where, due to all these cuts in medical research and vaccines, the poor, sick and elderly die leaving only the able-bodied workers left.

I recall Nazi's spaying people born with disabilities and worse in pursuit of their "master race" The parallels between RFK Jr and Nazi's /Josef Mengele keep getting deeper.

Kael @kaeldurand.bsky.social · 03/05/2025
I honestly think that's the plan. Engineered die-off of who they consider to be useless: The old, sick and poor If they raise the retirement age while lowering life expectancy, few will live long enough to retire.

Agreed but they're way ahead on renewable energy. Thorium based reactors, solar, wind, hydroelectric, ev's... And there are plenty of sources for oil and lng as they keep moving away from them.

Raising the minimum wage by 145%would also help.

Perhaps that's why they're moving so fast. It took 4 years to forget 1/6 so, maybe if they through us a carrot, we'll forget all this bullshit, too. By "we" I mean all the dumbasses who voted him in.
000
Kael @kaeldurand.bsky.social · 03/05/2025
Maybe that's the actual point. They are planning a society with only able-bodied workers. No sick, no elderly, no poor.

I wish they'd raise the minimum wage 145%

You know what poll I want to see? The poll asking how many of us would like to work in a factory for the rest of our lives? You could follow up with even if it paid more? Sad truth in the US is most new auto factories are not union So don't expect a lot more than that job at McDonald's
