What is not normal is putting adults in 6 bed dorms (bunk beds!) in the worst hostel you can find with not even a private shower. This is where they wanted us to sleep (well, the actual room was filthy, with no lights or electricity and much tinier than it looks)

A hostel dorm with 6 cubicle like beds, three on too of each other. There are curtains to make them even more claustrophobic and a ladder to climb on top. The bottom beds are almost directly on the floor which means that if you can’t climb into the higher ones because you have mobility issues you have to crawl on the floor.

Do you want to know how inaccessible this fucking place is? The uber driver couldn’t find a way to get to that fucking street bc both our sat navs went completely wild whenever we got close so he ended up dropping us off a 20 minute hike up that fucking hill away.

Apparently my body has decided that now ON A SCHOOL TRIP is a good time and place to start yet another random period. Fine. Whatever. I don’t care. The staff at Valrhona gave me a years worth of dark chocolate samples so I‘m ready for anything.

Inside of a paper bag. There are lots and lots of small samples of Valrhona chocolate in green and black paper wrappers on the bottom. There‘s also a ticket and some more small chocolates of different varieties.

Jim handled the knifework. Olu handled the recipe. Archie handled eating ingredients before they reached the pot while Zheng, naturally, took a directorial role.
“More garlic,” she announced.
“There are twelve cloves in there!” Olu said.
“Coward.”
Jim slid three more beneath their blade to crush.
By the time the garlic had softened the galley was thick with the aroma. Archie leant against Jim, while Zheng stole Olu’s spoon to taste test. Olu pretended annoyance at being overruled on not just garlic but coriander, chilli and lemongrass.
They crowded around one bowl, and Archie tasted it.
“Needs something,” she said.
"Oh?" Jim asked.
So Archie kissed Jim, who kissed Olu, who kissed Zheng. Zheng, smiling, reached for the salt.
“Thats it!"
