THE LIES OF LOCKE LAMORA x THE TAINTED CUP | #DVPit #A #F #DF #LGBT A conman grows entangled in a deadly battle of schemes to protect a priest of fungi from the forces seeking to turn him into a mindless puppet—including the mushrooms infesting him.

A conman must keep a priest of fungi alive if he wants to escape his deadly mushroom allergies—but when he falls for said mushroom-infested man, he’s torn between love and breathing easy. And the fungi will want far more than his lungs in exchange for its favorite priest. #QueerPit #A #F #DF

Lucanus looked like he'd been carved from a tree. No, Stefek realized, he's what's being carved. The knife slid along the edges of him, tracing the shape of the human and cutting away the fungus. It never drew blood. The attendant was careful, and Lucanus more so. Obediently, he'd hold his body in whatever shape the attendant nudged him into. Six widow-wires rose from the beach like garden eels on the sea floor. Wiggling, waving, lashing out to whip at the boulders. Searching for prey. Stefek bunched his limbs into a ball as the one behind him's shadow danced across the orange algae.

[…]

The wires straightened with a snap, half a dozen perfect lines drawn in the fog. They hissed as Lucanus whispered inaudible words. Then all at once, they collapsed, and the waves began to pull the five spirals out to sea—a crab claimed the sixth in its pincers.

Lucanus unburied his feet and smiled. "There. See? I'm nothing to worry about."

I'm going to be posting a few pitches during QueerPit today for my adult fantasy THE DEATH OF THE LAST FUNGAL PRIEST. All of the art included in my pitches was done by my beautiful and fantastic wife - you can find her as daintycapybara on Instagram.

Page from a 20th century IBM manual, that famously says "A computer can never be held responsible therefore a computer must never make a management decision"

It has been edited to say "A computer can never be HORNY OR SAD therefore a computer must never make AN ARTISTIC decision"

Full offense, but we shouldn't have to stop, hold your hand, and say, "That was a sad choice, wasn't it? Can you help think of a better one?" when writing for adults

I have rightfully been called a ”wife gal” in the past but who wouldn’t be when your wife casually whips out brilliant fanart of your manuscript 😭 #amquerying (she is daintycapybara over on insta and she wants it known this is a WIP)

every mushroom foraging guidebook: This is Woodland Pot Roast, a tasty little mushroom that adds a delightful flavour to soups and stews. Note that it is often mistaken for Satan’s Fistula, a mushroom that erases the last 9 generations of your family from God’s ledgers.

My best craft advice is "Put a giant worm in it." You can never go wrong with a giant worm. Sci-fi: Giant worm on an alien planet Fantasy: Giant worm in mountain sitting on a pile of gold Horror: Giant worm (eats people) Romance: Giant worm causes third-act breakup Mystery: Giant worm investigates

In a world where "AI" submissions are a plague, human-written stories are the cure for an editor's breaking heart. Don't let the flood discourage you from sending your work out there. You are better, no what the hype of the moment says. We want your stories. Not the slop-infested noise.
