No matter how hard they try brain scientists and cognitive psychologists will never find a copy of Beethoven’s 5th Symphony in the brain—or copies of words, pictures, grammatical rules or any other kinds of environmental stimuli. Integrating Ukraine in the EU doesn't seem so bad now, does it ? "(...) Ukraine's electricity grid has been synchronized with the wider EU grid since 2022, a process rushed through by the bloc to help Kyiv keep the lights on, but flows can move in both directions."

“Stop all wars” is not a politically neutral statement (...) It presents this war as one of those tragic situations where multiple parties bear responsibility and the best anyone can do is appeal to everyone’s better nature and hope the violence stops." Not stop all wars but stop russia's war.

China funds Russia's war in Ukraine. Since politicians won't act, Europeans must boycott Chinese-owned companies. You do not have to avoid all "Made in China" products. Just stop buying from Chinese brands to strip the corporate revenue Beijing uses to back Russia

With the rise of (cheap) renewable energy, our energy system needs to adapt. The short term solution has been curtailment to prevent grid instability but we need to increase flexibility instead which will lower electricity prices. www.euronews.com/2026/06/01/g...

Ben Meiselas: You are seeing in real time why Trump companies went bankrupt so many times. Set aside your politics. This guy is incapable of making a deal or meaningful decision and it follows the same cycle. Big flashy announcement (Epic Fury). Adversity hits (Hormuz closed). Defraud stakeholders (promise two week solution). Freeze up (endless two week cycle loop). Compound the problem (resource depletion). Final chance to save face rejected (what you’re seeing now). Bankruptcy strikes and blame others during chaos. Rinse repeat.

"Heat pumps just shift gas burning to the power station." Wrong. Even if 100% of electricity came from gas, a heat pump at SCOP 3.8 uses 51% less gas than a boiler. At a terrible SCOP 2.5, still 25% less. David MacKay made this point in 2008. The maths hasn't changed.

Spain's renewables build-out has structurally decoupled its electricity prices from gas markets. Gas now sets the price in only 15% of hours, compared to 90% in Italy. Countries that invested early in clean power are far less exposed to fossil fuel price shocks. Those that didn't now pay the price.
