We live 1.0 miles from Stadium & Main, and the first two cars, both BMWs, to leave our block were out of here less than 16 minutes after the game ended. I’m blaming those guys.

That just makes sense. The clock on “okay, so how long do we keep that up?” started in January 2025, and they took it down… just to put up a watered-down version of the same? (I was biking by on the way home from the hospital last Tuesday and thought they had decided to call it, which seemed fair.)

Thinking more about this question (“why not reply?”) in this context: there’s no point in replying. This response was either a troll or impossibly stupid. I think a quote of this meant “See? People are defending this annoying behavior even when I just called it annoying.”

Washtenaw BoC meeting has been something else tonight. DOZENS of anti-abortion commenters came to complain about a potential millage prop that would (if approved) give some money to PP and now that Commissioner Crystal Lyte gets to respond, near midnight, she is uncorking on them. Hell yeah.
Photo of a county board of commissioners meeting streaming on YouTube on a TV. A commissioner is screen sharing a collage of images related to her family and a wanted pregnancy that ended in a miscarriage, with a statement in the middle, which reads:
“Losing my Angel
• I needed Planned Parenthood when the ER sent me home to pass my unborn baby. They knew I needed a DNC and didn't do so.
Having insurance and a gynecologist I still needed Planned Parenthood because they were available.”

The collage includes a photo of (as I understand it) a bloody partial fetus on a towel or cloth, presumably removed in the D&C (dilation & curettage) procedure mentioned in the text.

Update from this morning from the opposite side of 7E: much nicer!
Background is a bright sunny day with blue sky and wispy clouds over the many trees of The Arb and the Forest Hill Cemetery in Ann Arbor.
Foreground is the “Snowman Corner” of the east wing of the 7th floor of C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, the “Coach Carr Unit” for Pediatric Cancer patients. Two walls of floor-to-ceiling windows surround a small alcove with institutional seating and a cast-iron telescope with a short platform for shorter users to stand on. A small boy in sweatpants and honey bear pajama top leans from the telescope platform against one of the windows, looking out towards Mary Markley Residence Hall.

Why *would* the same city that’s overly communicative about a prescribed burn that it performs not reach out to inform neighbors that a private company is going to cut down some trees near them? A real mysterispiracy! #a2council www.mlive.com/news/ann-arb...

I took pictures because I think these nearby buildings, across Davis from each other, pose a question for neighborhood character preservers: which fits the neighborhood better — the 5-plex you presumably can’t build now, or the ADU you can? (I love ‘em both)
5-unit apartment building on a residential street in Ann Arbor. It has a brick veneer and basically looks like a big houseADU on a residential street in Ann Arbor. It’s a two-story rectangular box whose upper half is clad in copper or an alloy that’s quickly developed a patina. There’s also a bare concrete wall that seems to create a kind of courtyard between the ADU and the main house on the lot. The modern ADU presents a dramatic stylistic contrast to the house, built in 1937.

I find there are two schools of thought on sunrises and sunsets: they’re an unbelievable spectacle, an explosion of beauty on a scale so grand we could never hope to reproduce it, and their fleeting nature makes it a miracle each time we catch one, and “okay”.
Beginning of sunrise over a residential street. There are some orange and gold low near the horizon, but the clouds above are just barely showing any reflection of the sunrise.

Photo taken from the bottom of a hill, so the street takes up much of the foregroundMore advanced sunrise, now with no street in the way. There’s an open grassy field, with a tree line behind. Sunrise is getting intense, with a pocket near the horizon that looks like fire in a glassblower’s furnace, hot yellow and maybe white. The camera may not have been able to capture the intensity of this patch faithfully because the light level is different from the rest of the scene.
The clouds above have a purplish base color, but most of the tufts of cloud that stick down below the main mass are reflecting pinks, oranges, reds. There’s one tall tree, denuded of leaves because it’s winter, just right of the center, either in the way of the main event or providing a stark silhouette to heighten the effect.Even more intense version of the last photo. Tree is right in the middle now, clouds are more pervasively orange and red.Back to the bottom of the hill, but the street is barely in the picture. You can see a few of the houses on the opposite side of the street, and trees above them, but the majority of the photo shows the clouds above, suffused with reddish colors by the distant sunrise. The clouds are mostly puffy like cotton balls, but one section of the sky looks like bread dough.

Don’t take this as a suggestion that some stuff isn’t extremely messed up about health insurance in this country (like the existence of HSAs, for one; like, sure you should use them, but they exist for people who don’t believe in taxes and defy the concept of insurance), but: I’m paying for this
