The attacks began in Kersall before spreading to the area in and between Walkden and Little Hulton. The perpetrators claimed they were targeting properties housing people seeking asylum. But several of the homes attacked weren't HMOs at all. Some were family homes with children.

The Median Experience does start to shift in early stage authoritarian states. Living in Orban's Hungary, you'd have seen the economy lag, public services decline and corruption become more blatant. The effects of Trump's violence/incompetence is already showing up in the wider economy.

The history of 287(g) has gotten lost because feds and states have allowed the program to expand, unchecked. Historically, the only agencies that could use 287(g) were sheriff's offices (maybe the occasional state agency). Sheriffs can generally enter into contracts without county approval.

The “voluntary departure” orders are an absolute scandal. You detain someone illegally. Conditions are terrible. So then DHS deprives them of a hearing with an immigration judge or even a credible fear screening (after expedited removal order) by having them sign all their rights away to DHS

Defense companies with ties to Don Jr. and Eric Trump have netted $6 billion in Pentagon contracts. What are the odds that two guys with no defense background would have such an unerring sense of where the Pentagon would want to invest its resources?

Trump’s son-in-law, and golfing buddy, are brokering Middle East peace and an end to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, while also negotiating business deals in the regions. For example, part of a potential peace deal for Ukraine is a multibillion-dollar oil deal that benefits Middle East executives with ties to Kushner and Witkoff.
