New preprint from the lab! Using a humanized mouse model, we found that a Human Accelerated Region drives heterochronic changes in craniofacial and limb development (apologies for the re-post, we needed to adjust the thread a bit): www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

1/n What fraction of the human genome is essential for cells? Excited to share our preprint that explores this question by combining an unusual CRISPR system, phage promoters, and thousands of deletion launchpads. @sudpinglay.bsky.social @jshendure.bsky.social www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

A tour de force study from Taipale&Yin labs. It expands the vocabulary of the Regulatory Code by adding 1131 TF:TF composite motifs that are different from the individual TF motifs. The new composite motifs are enriched in cell-type specific elements and active in vivo www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Impressive study from Alex Stark lab identifying 3 new types of silencer elements in Drosophila New TF binds a particular isolated motif in non-accessible sites to recruit G9a. Deletion of these elements can lead to upregulation of nearby gene www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
