Aaron Swartz's crime was not downloading data from JSTOR. It was downloading data from JSTOR using a laptop he illegally put into an MIT server closest then using the university's network and credentials to do it. Not hard to figure out why that's a crime and has nothing tod o with IP laws.

I think the best parallel to what we'll see with AI are the cola wars. The cost to compute AI loads will crash to near nothing, like making a bottle of soda. The brand's value is in name recognition and packaging. There will be plenty of corporate bodies but everybody will be a consumer too.

I'm finding at least one major drawback to AI taking over coding. It turns out my brain really liked that 'zen' feeling where I had to zone out and just focus on code for long periods of time. The cycle of thinking through a problem, coming out with a rough plan, and then diving in has changed...

I graphed out the plane's path vs the proper 3% glide slope for Miami 30. I didn't put speed in but, they're fast the whole way through. Pulling up a 767 4 miles out trying to bleed of speed is a "my first time playing MS Flight Sim" level mistake. There were like 10 reasons to go around.

There was an animated Transformers: Primer series, CGI stuff, great work, and my kids were into it when they were little. I loved it, and an Optimus Prime speech on that show would give me goosebumps. Hell, "Autobots, roll out!" still does. It'll never stop being ingrained into me....

I have an enormous amount of respect for Cullen, and mostly in how he treated his role of Optimus Prime. He never used it outside the role and he took the role far more serious than anybody would for a cartoon character designed to sell toys. It was a cartoon character worth emulating.

We're doing network work in the #FRC robotics lab, and today I taught a student how to build Ethernet cables. He spent about 30 minutes solid trying to get one right, just getting the wires lined up and straight, but, fumbled. It's a weird skill to learn and it does take a while.
