Matthew Shepard died on October 12th in 1998, 28 years ago. His ashes were interred at Washington National Cathedral 20 years later, in 2018, because before Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson offered the Cathedral's crypt, his family had no place for him that would be safe from desecration.

I mostly agree with you here. But there’s also a bit of satisfaction in giving them a taste of their own medicine. I think we see it at lot more with other teams in Concacaf (especially club teams), but the shit is absolutely frustrating and annoying

Yes. Pretty much. The frustrating thing is that it’s not that much farther from most of Brooklyn and lower manhattan than Yankee Stadium or the new Etihad. But the mental block of taking the PATH is WAY too much for most NYers. A little like Manhattanites crossing the river into Brooklyn or Queens.
