We were shown Michael Apted's 7 Up, 14 Up and 21 Up in school - and the Up series deeply affected me as a kid (and still does today). The films helped give context around what 'growing up' meant, or looked like for other kids - especially because it's such a vague concept to a child.

The lake was tricky because I love water and love swimming. Real internal battle! 🤣 Idi Amin: I was precocious, read early, and read newspapers cover to cover every day from about the age of 8. I became convinced Amin would try to flee to Canada, then try to take it over and murder a lot of people.

Remember: I was very young. 🤣 *The lake is ~ 200ft. deep and you couldn't see the bottom. I would dive into the lake then race as fast as possible back to the ladder to get out of the water. * I had nightmares, still to this day, where all it is is the sound of his knife fingers scraping metal.

"twee hobbyists"? We all have crank views, but this is an odd one and I am surprised it's one you hold. So many apartment dwellers and low income people with no access to a yard benefit from community gardens. For them, I would say it is is very much fulfilling a 'need', not a twee hobby.
