Like i posit Inu Yasha is shounen isekai to a tee (re:escapism) but shoujo like Twelve Kingdoms, Fushigi Yugi, & Red River are “reborn/transported to another world” titles that drop the heroin into shitty ass situations instead of straight power fantasy. They get the power late but most start bad

Yea the “why were want to escape” thing is just because we are all being crushed under the wheel of capitalism, this most isekai is just cottage core for men. Shoujo isekai which greatly predated it pretty much ALWAYS included some sort of serious warring states shit, historical or ahistorical.
