Julia Childs @juliachilds.bsky.social · 1hGood grief. You’re having a ropey old time. Hope you feel a bit better today. 110
Julia Childs @juliachilds.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Chronic pain is very interesting. I can usually only actually feel the worst pain. Perversely, that means that a (minor) acute injury is sometimes a welcome break from pain elsewhere. Today my ankle sprain feels a bit better which means I am feeling my longer term MCL sprain and torn meniscus. #EDS 030

Julia Childs @juliachilds.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Each to their own but I wonder what’s happening to all that young, stretched skin. Will they have to do fillers forever, or will we have lots of saggy lips as people age? Can’t be healthy. 210
Julia Childs @juliachilds.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Thanks so much. Luckily, we’re now part of a huge group, so we’ve added him to our family ‘don’t touch with a barge pole’ list. Turns out my husband saw him 30 years ago and had similar experience! I asked for a 2nd opinion last night. How’s your walking? Hope better. 110
Julia Childs @juliachilds.bsky.social · 07/10/2026An exercise in gaslighting. New doctor in newly combined surgery actually told me to ‘be a good patient’ because I was politely questioning his advice. All he did was issue a repeat prescription and tell me off twice for not seeing him face to face, when AI booked a phone appointment. Rage crying. 100
Julia Childs @juliachilds.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Cat people, any advice for me on decent break-away cat collars that don’t fall off please? Thank you #cats 043
Julia Childs @juliachilds.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Gah! I hear you. I have a doctor’s appointment this afternoon as I can’t weight bear for more than ten mins on my left foot! 110
Julia Childs @juliachilds.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Good morning from Margot, who works in tandem with her brother to remove their collars. #rescuecats 291
Julia Childs @juliachilds.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Haha! I have a very thick skin but certainly looked at her sideways. 010
Julia Childs @juliachilds.bsky.social · 06/10/2026That’s lovely. Beats an old boss (not my current employer) who described me as, ‘a middle aged Tigger,’ during my appraisal. 110
Julia Childs @juliachilds.bsky.social · 05/10/2026My husband has just described me as ‘an excellent shit catcher,’ which was intended as a compliment. 150

These days I do laces once & slip shoes on & off :) I wish I’d been able to learn about energy accounting / spoon theory way earlier. Some stuff is ‘normal’ but just not worth the huge amount of energy it takes for me to do it. 14615
Julia Childs @juliachilds.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Lack of seating is a huge issue, generally. I can usually walk a fair distance but I find standing very, very tough. Bus stops often have no seating, queuing is diabolical. 010
Julia Childs @juliachilds.bsky.social · 03/10/2026They reached peak nightmare at around midnight. Thankfully, we were in bed, so my youngest had to deal! He was the main instigator. Butter wouldn’t melt. 130
Julia Childs @juliachilds.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Bit worried our new rescue kittens might be too relaxed this afternoon. Suspect we’re in for a wild night! 1132
Julia Childs @juliachilds.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Yup. It can be absolutely valid to walk away. I really detest the automatic ‘try, try and try again.’ That doesn’t mean giving up at the slightest hurdle but sometimes an alternative is a much better (and kinder) plan. 010
Julia Childs @juliachilds.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Nine hours today in A&E with our ancient relative. Care in Majors was excellent - busy but civilised. Step outside into the rest of A&E and it looked like carnage. They closed our local A&E, which means everyone from our London Borough has to travel a neighbouring one. Too many people. 160

Can I do it safely? Can I do it without support? Can I do anything afterwards? Can I do it tomorrow too? What does doing it COST? These tell me a lot more about my capability. 23894236
Julia Childs @juliachilds.bsky.social · 28/09/2026I once took a short break to Ragusa in Sicily. The most amazing place. It took me six weeks to get back to my normal. It probably wasn’t at all sensible but it was so fabulous! 150
Julia Childs @juliachilds.bsky.social · 28/09/2026Correct. She loves to climb! They are beautiful but utterly fearless. 110
Julia Childs @juliachilds.bsky.social · 28/09/2026Murderous this morning! I’m playing with them to try and exhaust. They badly need to go outside but we’ve another 10 days inside. 110
Julia Childs @juliachilds.bsky.social · 28/09/2026They BADLY need to go outside but we need a minimum of another 10 days inside. Also worrying about plonkers with fireworks around Halloween and Guy Fawkes. 110
Julia Childs @juliachilds.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Ha! My youngest got locked in a loo at Nando’s when he was six. They disassembled the lock with a screwdriver set from Maplin, the shop next door. He was quite happy as they promised him a free dessert! 110
Julia Childs @juliachilds.bsky.social · 27/09/2026My mum was worried. I was chill. Kind of a precursor… I’ve been stuck in four lifts and rescued by firefighters on one of those occasions. Again, I wasn’t particularly bothered. 110
Julia Childs @juliachilds.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Twinkle was shoved under the locked bathroom door and the firemen told me to read it by the sink, so they didn’t land the door on me when they battered it in. Moral of the story is to put locks up high so five year olds can’t trap themselves! 120
Julia Childs @juliachilds.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Did get through to a human in the end. Not much better! 020
Julia Childs @juliachilds.bsky.social · 27/09/202630 minutes and counting on a ‘chat’ with NEXT. It started well. 210
Julia Childs @juliachilds.bsky.social · 26/09/2026The best pasty I’ve ever eaten (sorry Cornwall). Wish I’d bought a pork pie now. 040
Julia Childs @juliachilds.bsky.social · 22/09/2026Thank you! I’m asking around at the gym. I’m definitely better with a home hairdresser. 120
Julia Childs @juliachilds.bsky.social · 22/09/2026My hairdresser is emigrating. I am not great at being touched by people I don’t know. I find salons overwhelming, not helped by having to remove my hearing aids and glasses. I have curly hair (if you know, you know). REALLY not the end of the world but..! 140

Julia Childs @juliachilds.bsky.social · 18/09/2026And the guy supporting him said, ‘thank you for your encouragement.’ How lovely is that? There are very good people in this world. 040
