I do think he should get some credit for David Martinez’s progression and I honestly don’t pin the CCC loss to him (Toluca just a better team), but it’s one thing to play boring and win, it’s another to be boring and lose.

Generally do not like mid season firings, but MDS seemed incapable of altering his approach despite repeated failings. Prime example was his insistence on playing Segura out of position all season even when there were better options.

If executive branch creates a system so that people under government control can be located and then just stops listing some people in that system — despite their still being under government control — that should be a five-alarm fire for the other branches, the states, and the public.

Karen Bass called for this exact Paramount-WB merger settlement weeks ago. We can't get rid of Bonta or other pro-merger Democrats this cycle. But in just a few weeks, we CAN get rid of Karen. Nithya understands how existential media consolidation is for the city of LA.

My counter would be that Enzo brings Man City something they are missing: a tier 1 shithouser. They needed someone skilled enough to start on their squad who could also trigger an international incident.

It’s an issue because private equity is trying to centralize Liga Mx media rights. If they succeed they will be competing with MLS when the next media deal needs to be negotiated. It further solidifies the reality that Liga Mx fanbases are more disperse and have stronger loyalties than MLS fans.

110

jtrincad.bsky.social @jtrincad.bsky.social · 27/08/2026

Nah, It’s an imperfect format that led to some random results and advancements. MLS’ parity still on full display versus Liga Mx’s top heaviness. Bigger concern for MLS is that Liga Mx teams were able to turn out more fans in random locations than MLS teams in their own country.

Is that...is that supposed to be an argument against healthcare

Darline Graham, new Republican candidate for Senate in South Carolina, told a crowd last night that government-run health care is a terrible idea and then told everyone her parents had to work at their liquor store even if they were sick, and her mother and father died when she was 11 and 12, respectively. Apparently as an argument against healthcare.

Nicolas Jackson feels like the type of striker that will end up playing for 12 different clubs before his career is over and each time the fan base of the club signing him will say this feels like excellent value until 4 months later when their manager is no longer playing him.

Yeah unfortunate that there are so many teams involved. This makes sense for a Cup competition, but given that MLS Cup determines the season champ there’s way too many teams who qualify. Also sucks because the new division system will reduce the importance of the Supporter Shield even further

I agree that JT needs to find a way to recover from some choices that turned out poorly. Boudri was yet another U-22 from Europe who couldn’t adjust away from home. Eustaquio looked like a coup until a freak injury spoiled his LAFC experience. And clearly they thought Igor Jesus would be back by Aug

110

jtrincad.bsky.social @jtrincad.bsky.social · 20/08/2026

Toluca didn’t rotate for the CCC match. Love Ordaz, but he wasn’t a true impact player. Sieb should be an upgrade. Eustaquio was just tough luck, no one to blame (but Fischer) for that. Drew against Vancouver away without Son having a full week of rest or training.

000

jtrincad.bsky.social @jtrincad.bsky.social · 20/08/2026

Yeah and in the playoffs they will be able to focus on one team at a time with plenty of rest. Only away game in the West that worries me is Vancouver, who is the likely top seed, but this Vancouver team is not as good as last year’s version.

000

jtrincad.bsky.social @jtrincad.bsky.social · 20/08/2026

Because it’s a bit silly. Fine to apply pressure and criticize but it’s dumb to constantly be talking about firing the coach after every negative result.

120

jtrincad.bsky.social @jtrincad.bsky.social · 20/08/2026

They beat Toluca (better than any MLS team) at home twice. They beat Miami at home, drew Vancouver away, and narrowly lost to Nashville away. There’s definite issues (as with any MLS team) with LAFC, but on full rest with a week to prepare there’s not a team in MLS they can’t beat.

210

jtrincad.bsky.social @jtrincad.bsky.social · 17/08/2026

Understand giving Nashville their well deserved props, wouldn’t argue with saying they are the best in the league right now, but a little surprised that there wasn’t some acknowledgment of what’s going with Messi right now.

000

jtrincad.bsky.social @jtrincad.bsky.social · 17/08/2026

I don’t follow the team closely, but over his 3 years with St Louis they have been reliably better when he’s available to play. Tough to move him just as the team gathers momentum. He shouldn’t have been the type of signing where they were expecting to get value for at the end of his contract.

Should just be 6 groups with 3 teams from MLS, 3 teams from Liga Mx, best team from each league in the group advances. 2 Highest ranked second place teams also advance. Basically just adding a Rd of 16 game.

000

jtrincad.bsky.social @jtrincad.bsky.social · 09/08/2026

League’s Cup format is so wildly unfair, it’s kind of hilarious. Like if you are an MLS team that has to play in Mexico, you’re pretty much toast in the competition. Then there’s so much disparity between Liga Mx teams, if you draw an easy trio chances of advancing are so much greater.

Good questions, and who knows how he feels about MLS, I just don’t think in a world where Andre Gomes chooses to live in Columbus Ohio voluntarily, that a bench player in the Dutch league would rule out playing in a place he might think he can be a star.

I could see him making the move as a TAM level signing. He’s only making about 800k a year now. Bit of a different situation from Ryan Kent, but not too dissimilar if he’s having issues with his current club and they are willing to take a loss transferring him out.
