Vancouver does this funny thing where, as if you didn’t notice this massive tree stump, here’s a cute little pylon so you don’t trip over it. Usually they end up deteriorating and looking ugly. This lady is turning a stump into a garden, impregnating it with flowers and tomatoes.

The Dentate Gyrus Grows Throughout Life Despite Turnover of Developmentally‐Born Neurons
Adult-born hippocampal neurons are highly plastic but there remains uncertainty about the magnitude of neurogenesis and its long-term functional consequences. Theoretical predictions indicate that ad....

Current standards for statistical rigor are a joke. In this high IF pub, purple and black are claimed to be different at 9 and 1 but...what does P=0.0468 even refer to? And is a posthoc result of p=0.07 good enough?

Does anyone know of a study that has tested whether adult hippocampal neurogenesis contributes to behavior in aging? Despite all the theoretical significance, this has never even been tested to my knowledge. A recent review cites Montaron (2020) as evidence but that paper does nothing of the sort.

Inject an AAV into entorhinal cortex that expresses GFP and Tau. To study synaptic spread of Tau into the downstream dentate gyrus you look for cells that have Tau alone. Except all of the cells shown here in the dentate also express GFP, which means they were directly transduced.

Human hippocampal CA3 uses specific functional connectivity rules for efficient associative memory
Human hippocampal CA3 networks use sparse and broad synaptic connectivity, and their recurrent synapses employ reliability, precision, and long integration times to enhance memory capacity. Thus, the ...
