they people aren't reading for pleasure as much as they used to, but maybe the problem is worse than that: I get the sense they're not getting much pleasure out of anything else either. People's hobbies now are gruelling drudgery and scrolling

I once drank so much coffee I could feel my heartbeat in my teeth. It was the most alive I’ve felt since 2017.

I’m pretty easy to impress when it comes to movies. I walk into a theater ready to clap like a seal at whatever you show me. I really am a simple creature

my jaw genuinely dropped at how beautiful the new jwst image is.
These shimmering cosmic curtains show interstellar gas and dust that has been heated by the flashbulb explosion of a long-ago supernova. The gas then glows infrared light in what is known as a thermal light echo. As the supernova illumination travels through space at the speed of light, the echo appears to expand. NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope observed this light echo in the vicinity of the supernova remnant Cassiopeia A. NASA, ESA, CSA, STScI, J. With best wishes for a Happy New Year! Ca. 1904. www.tuckdbpostcards.org/items/43139-...
Color illustration of a shorthaired tuxedo cat operating a food cart selling orange citrus fruits. I know oranges were a traditional Christmas treat but it you scale these in size to the kitties buying them they're more like clementines or satsumas. Three shorthaired tabbies clamor to buy the round orange fruits and everyone looks very happy and adorable. Fancy script across the bottom reads "With Best Wishes for a Happy new Year".

I am so tired of waiting, aren’t you, For the world to become good and beautiful and kind? Let’s take a knife and cut the world in two- And see what worms are eating At the rind. Langston Hughes

I don't know who needs to hear this, but if all you accomplish this weekend is reading a riveting novel cover-to-cover whilst drinking multiple kettles of tea and consuming a scandalous amount of croissants, then you will have accomplished more than enough.
