I'd also like people to understand that this is an iterative thing. Companies didn't go from "not eroding consent" to "let's all erode consent" at once. Tech has been doing this for more than 25 years. The longer we keep making excuses to keep using these things the worse it will continue to get.

The #iOS27 #AI feature "Write with Siri" weirds me out. I was texting about a bad haircut I got (don’t worry, I’m being very brave about it), and saw you can just ask Siri what to say in a thread. So I tried it.

You could respond by simply thanking them for their sweet words, or you could match their affection and tell them how much you appreciate their support. Something like, "Thank you, that really means a lot to me. I love you too," could work well.

I liked when things weren’t so high resolution. It’s why I liked earlier Nintendo, because they weren’t so into 16k textures. Things were fanciful in a way that only limited hardware could allow.

On the heels of 1Password’s news, I’m glad I don’t rely on the cloud for a lot. Here’s some if what I’ve done to be more tech independent: - Music: mp3s I host. I wrote my own app. - Photos: self hosted, synced locally. - Notes: just a bunch of .txt files now. - Backups: all local. rsync’s perfect.

I’ve had a hard time writing since getting the book out last year. My thoughts just fog up like trying to hold smoke. It’s wild how burnout, and yes that’s definitely me, gets to you. There were other things going on in life that made that and other things difficult, but the core of it is burnout.
