We're repeatedly told that asylum seekers pose a threat to the good people of our country... Reading about the threatening and violent treatment of elderly and open minded locals in Crowborough I get the impression that the real threat comes from closer to home. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

On Facebook and other platforms, people
who are known to support the asylum
seekers have been threatened with acid
attacks, petrol bombs and rape. The dossier.
which has been seen by the Guardian, also
claims that several local businesses have
been threatened by far-right agitators, along
with a church where some asylum seekers
worship. One man was punched in the throat
after he held up a "Love Thy Neighbour"
sign, while an elderly couple were falsely
accused of supporting sex offenders. In yet
another case, a 92-year-old church volunteer
was reportedly woken at 3am for two nights
in a row by a man standing outside her
home, shining a torch through her window
and shouting abuse

The voters don't care about this. They don't care about his lies. They don't care about his crimes. They don't care about his raping. As long as he attacks the people they hate, they will keep voting for him. And the next. And the next. The world has moved on. Catch up.

Your filling station is closing soon. BMW drops diesel as an option on its 3 series. Sales of new diesel vehicles falls fastest as BEVs replace ICEVs. So demand for the fuel will fall even faster, as new diesel engines no longer enter the market. Pumps close, your old diesel gets harder to refuel.

Fun fact: the best selling BEV in Italy over the last 12 months isn't a Tesla or a BYD. It's the Leapmotor T03 with 27k units, almost double Model 3 and Model Y combined. The incentive probably helped: up to 11,000 EUR off a car listed at 18,900 EUR. Some dealers advertised it for under 5,000 EUR.

Your filling station will close soon. BEVs are replacing petrol itself. Petrol is 25% of the oil industry, Carbon fuels 40% of all sea traffic. Petrol industry needs economy of scale to survive. Sales fall, costs rise, profits drop, investment goes elsewhere. Your filling station will close soon.

It’s a mark of the corruption of our whole way of thinking about the world that trying to meet a planetary emergency is routinely described as “ideological”, while continuing to accelerate it is presented as “pragmatic” and “economic”.

A friend pointed out to me that people's "social scripts" used to come from fiction (novels, TV, movies) written by professional storytellers, and now they come from reality TV and short form video content, where the words largely come from attention-seeking amateurs. It has made us worse.
